Decent budget traditional?

Sweet blades guys. I saw a 2004 Winchester large Trapper for $10 at the pawn shop and was wondering if that's a decent price or worthwhile as a knife.

Ten bucks was a decent price for a Steel Warriors large trapper. I don't see how you could go wrong. I mean, that's only like, 1600 pesos, or a hunnert and ninety bucks Canadian.

Henry - Are you saying that the 2004 Winchester Trapper is made by the same factory as Frost Steel Warrior? How decent are they? My wife has a small Steel Warrior lockback and it's pretty decent.

Got the Rough Rider and was wondering how sharp they can get? It seems OK but I remember my dad's old carbon steel Schrade Muskrat would take such a scary edge in comparison. Maybe I'm just picky or suck at sharpening still. We'll see after I put some use on it ;)

I have no idea if they are from the same factory. I only suggest that ten bucks is not a lot of dough. The Steel Warrior is not as nice a knife as a Rough Rider for about the same price, but I don't feel burned for having bought it. It is holding up to the admittedly modest demands of EDC, even if it was my offering for the ugly knife thread. It's just ten bucks. No need to overthink it.

If that Winchester isn't exactly brand new, then for 10$ you'd be better off looking for an old old timer, imperial, or camillus...ect
Too many good vintage knives to be had for 10f instead of a used likely Chinese made knife.

True. Checked the Bay and it seems for about $30 you can score a nice shape USA made carbon steel Stockman so I will probably go for one of those eventually. When it warms up the flea markets and garage sales might be a good chance for deals on some old carbon steel :)
