Decent Traditional Slip Joint?

Less expensive: Case (sooo many options)
Mid-expensive: GEC (which is GEC, Tidioute, and Northfield)
More expensive: Northwoods (truly special knives)

Too many great brands to choose from... But I'm going to suggest Canal Street Cutlery. They just went out of business so it's get em now before they're all gone.

This one is a csc pinch lockback trapper in 440c and bone linen micarta. I think it's lovely! In between a couple of moderns for size comparison which also explains why I love traditionals, they're just easier to carry for regular edc.

I'm personally a fan of stainless steels so I buy case and Northwoods who outsource their knives to queen and gec. Gec likes high carbon and you have to put a patina on those knives so there's an upkeep and maintenance factor to their otherwise lively knives. Most of the brands that do ss steels are plug and play dump in your pocket and go.

PS Perry knife works a paid forum dealer is where I got mine.

Very sad news, indeed! :(

I really like CSC and highly recommend a Canal Street Pinch Lockback. Snap one up before they're gone forever!

Of course, there are many, many different patterns that might suit your needs/style better. Browse the Traditional Forum and have a peek! :)

Good luck, OP!

I just saw your post... Great minds think alike... Haha!

I love my Buck 301. It's a classy, non-threatening knife that also happens to be built tough, with thick blades and thin hollow grinds. I really enjoy carrying and using it. It's been my good and reliable friend on a number of occasions.

Lol...most Northwoods knives are currently made by GEC. I see anything special about them, unless a particular design catches your eye.

Hey everyone!
I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions for a nice traditional slip joint for EDC to compliment my main larger blade. Right now I have a Victorinox Cadet and a Buck Solo. I want something more traditional than the Cadet, but a little larger and more durable than the solo. Please help! Thanks!

You need to get you something like this. :)

Someone posted a picture of a Buck 301 but just smaller than that with the same blade layout is the Buck 303. It just all depends on what you call traditional and how much larger you want to go over the Cadet/Solo. Coincidentally the Buck 303 is also called a Cadet. I would go to an online knife store and look for something you like within your price range. You can do a sort on most sites by blade length, blade shape, and cost so that would narrow down your search, but you will still have a lot of knives to choose from. All the knives mentioned so far are good options and there are still other good options out there.

If you don't mind the more utilitarian aesthetics, I'd take a Buck slipjoint over a Case any day of the week. Case has more bling factor, but the Buck is a better knife.

Case 18 stockman. Pinch-able sheepsfoot, and a nice hollow grind, make this one so close to perfection for edc. Really cuts like no other, especially if you happen to get one with even thinner hollow grind, because as i've noticed, they can get a bit different, from the manufacturing process.
