Hi I started looking around for a Tops Ferret (a small fixed blade).

I checked the price at the manufacturers site ( 79.00 ) and plugged
the manufacturer and model number into google and tried
the knifecountryusa.com site and saw the knife advertised for sale
for 74.50 and a "retail price" of 124.95 for a "savings" of 40%!

I went back to the Tops site and they do offer a couple of options
serrations for 15.00
camo finish for 30.00

Which would bring the price to 124.00 at the Tops site.

The Knife Country USA site has no mention of the above two options.

I concluded that they are too devious to do business with...

What is your opinion?

I have run across the problem of inflated retails on many dealer sites. Retail prices are only suggested by the manufacturer, and the retailer can put whatever price they want on a product. What matters is the actual selling price. When I see a dealer that jacks up the retail price and then sells for the MSRP (or darn close to it), I never go back to that site again.

Find the knife you are looking for at a reputable dealer. That way you know that you are dealing with a company that you can trust.

TOPS sells on their website below their "retail price". To my knowledge, they are one of the few manufacturers that routinely this.

I'm not making excuses for the $124.99 retail price you ran across, and experts like Keith have already condemned this particular sell. However, you might want to call TOPS and ask about their "retail price" before you make too many assumptions.
