Just an FYI...

In the next 3 or 4 days I'm going to be selling off most of my knife collection. I just got the most horrible news about an hour ago, that one of my closest friends is dying of cancer with not much longer to live. This is one of the best men I've ever known and is like a second father to my son Adam. They don't have much in life insurance or money so I feel the need to be there to help. I'm not loaded with money, as most of my spare is tied up in knives. They have a 16 year son that's like my 4th son and he'll need a lot of support that I hope I can provide.

This just made me realize that my knife collection is just irrelevant, materialistic things that's can be replaced. Not all are Fiddleback so I'll post most of it in the main for sale forum.

Brother Bob. Man this is horrible news. You doing this for that family makes you one hell of a stand up guy “Big Deal”. Prayers to all the family a friends close to these folks. So sad to hear these things that happen to great people. :(

I just sent you the following as a DM but now I’m thinking it might be a good idea to share it. If not my apologies

Bob, just read your post. Nothing I could say would help. But this thought did arise and I decided to run it by you. What about raffling knives off as a benefit? Possibly with the assistance of various blade makers. Knife collectors, Ive discovered are some of the most honest and generous folks I’ve ever come across. And a good many might be willing to get involved! You are after all a hell of a good guy and "kind of a big deal!" Prayers go out to this man and his family.

you're all good people and good friends. Let me sort through this first and I'll get a plan when I can think clear. Going to talk with his wife this weekend and will get a true scope of all of this. For now just pray or wish good vibes for a super good man and his family. They've been through so much. Thank you

I’ll buy one of your Fiddlebacks
(bushfinger! j/k : ) on the condition that you can buy it back in the same shape if/whenever you want. Consider it an indefinite loan to help your friend during this time. Prayers sent. Multiple people in my life are battling cancer right now. My boss (and friend) of 15 yrs just underwent 4hrs of surgery yesterday to try and remove it. Way too much of it around.

I know the scary feeling of the unknown, and how you look at it with your love ones in mind. I also have cancer and have had numerous surgeries where the last one they removed a 3" diameter by 1" deep area out of my back. Doctors say it's just a waiting game to see when it comes back and what the next treatment will be. Basically I live by annual CT scans. However I know someone always has it worst and I'm still upright, so I'm thankful.

Hey Bob, just let us know what you want to do and I will jump in with a knife dono or something to help out along with all these other great folks. Most importantly, many, many prayers for your friend and his family for healing and peace, and for you too bro! I really hate cancer and any sickness that tries to take someone out before their time.

I also pray for hope and strength for his family! I am only 47yo, but I am a survivor and just over 5 years out now from a sudden massive midbrain subarachnoid hemorrhage. The docs told my family there was no way that I would live, but after a long and difficult rehab, I continue to improve...thanks in great part to my amazing wife and family and friends, and of course GOD! And the real shock factor was that absolutely no one saw it coming. I have never had any health problem before this, and I have always been exceptionally ultra-fit and ultra-healthy. My point with that is: it can happen to anyone, you just really never know?!! Puts things in their place and makes you hug a lot tighter and longer, ya know.

Bob, please keep us posted. You're not only a big deal...but it is pretty obvious to me that you have a pretty damn big heart!!! Much love and bro hugs. Prayers coming your way brother!

Bob, you are such a stand out guy. I doubt anyone that meets you ever forgets you. I'm glad you posted this here. I will pick two Fiddlebacks out of my personal collection to donate for raffle/auction. I'll pick them and get pics for this thread. Please set up a go fund me page, or some such money changing method.

I love all of you at this forum. Thanks for showing your big hearts.

Just a heads-up folks: raffles will violate federal and state gaming laws unless it is coming through a 501(c)3 with solicitation and raffle licenses. Usually, but depending on state, these funds will be taxable. Gofundme, PayPal, and other services will shut down your accounts indefinitely for raffles and games of chance and skill. As you find a way forward to do this right, please keep in mind the above to avoid unintended consequences related to your person or business.
