I've wanted a good quality Carbon Fiber scales Spydie for a while and really like the Sage. Of course the Sage 2 is gorgeous as well. I can only get 1 at this time so my question is not which is actually better but rather is the liner lock on the Sage as good as can be? I have a Para and a FFG Delica 4 and have grown to like locks on top so I'm a little hesitant about the liner lock. I'm sure the RIL is great on the Sage 2 so I'm not questioning that.

I'd say the lock on the CF Sage is about as good as a liner lock can be. Nice thick lockbar and rock solid lockup. I know I'd have total confidence in it.

I went through the same debate. I already have some carbon fiber with the caly3 but have heard the Sage carbon fiber has a nicer texture. That and the fact that the Sage1 is so much cheaper than the Sage2 were enough to sway me. I found them new for 79.99 plus shipping.

You can easily obtain them at the "BUY NOW" price of $79.99 from the 'bay. Others here have gotten them cheaper by bidding.

I love the Sage I CF. It's the ultimate small EDC. The blade is centered perfectly, I have not had to adjust the pivot screw once. And it's as smooth as silk opening up.

Thanks for the info thus far. I am not ultra crazy about aluminum or titanium handles as far as feel goes so I thought the CF might be nice. The simple look and construction of the Sage 2 is what intrigues me.

I have both the Sage 1 & 2. I like the Sage 2 slightly more because I'm attracted to the simple open frame construction and RIL, but they are both really great knives.

I'd recommend that you get which either one you can get the best price on.

I love my Sage 1. The liner lock is very strong and you'll love the current pricing. Get one before the deals are gone.

Looking on the bay, the BIN prices for the Sage 1 are about 1/2 what the 2 is. Better get me one!

Im for the sage 2 by a hair just like cgmblade, although both are great [I do own both] and I have full confidence in the Sage 1's liner lock. Both get carried, sage2 a bit more.

I'm leaning toward the Sage 2 by a hair too. I have two of each but for some intangible reason, I really gravitate toward my Sage 2 user and that is no dig on the Sage 1. I carry both but the 2 gets much more pocket time.

We showed the 3rd version proto at the SHOT Show. Also very nice. We are using the Blackie Collins design for his "Bolt Action" lock. It's a very nice lock that Gerber used on Blackie's designs and still uses on a few of their newer models. It was also one of the first "new" locks, along with the Walker Linerlock and Reeve Integral Lock, to begin the lock trend. Up until then, most locking folders were lock-backs of some sort. A trend that was started by Buck.

Blackie also was the first to use FRN in a knife. Gerber LST model. They had no liners. It was a giant leap forward for the industry.

Looking forward to the 3rd generation Sage. Any idea when it will be available? Would love to see some pictures it there are any around.:)

I second that, waiting for the third generation.:D
Wondering what the handle scales will be made of?

I would buy them in order of release. Start with the CF version, save up more $ and then get the Ti version, save up more $, and have the completed collection once the v 3.0 comes out. :)

You sure they are stopping at 3? I'm in for the set if that's the case!

I went through the same thing and just got both. The liner lock version feels a tad lighter, a bit wider in the hand, and has a smoother action. Maybe because it was used more? The CF on the Sage is not the CF on the Caly. It's very textured and grippy. Same with the Ti, it's not smoothed Ti so it handles very well. Both knives lock up very solid and I have the utmost faith in both staying locked.

look on ebay I just bought a new one for $117. Wait until you see one that you can bid on and place a bid.
