Decision time...ZT0561 - Spyderco Southard - Böker Minos - Lionsteel SR1 G

If I owned a 3.5" XM-18, here's what I would do. I'd sell it BEFORE the 0562CF is released. Then I'd buy an 0562CF and pocket the difference. Otherwise I might get stuck owning a knife that isn't worth anywhere near what I paid for it.

True that but I only have one XM-18 3" with frag gray G-10 and 20CV so it's pretty unique and a keeper.

There's absolutely no reason to anticipate that ZT will build a 3.0" XM-18 variant. If anything, given Thomas's lukewarm comments concerning lightweight knives in general and ZT's back-to-the-knitting pocket brick announcements at the 2014 Blade Show, I wouldn't be surprised if the 0770CF remains their lone offering in the lightweight category for a very long time. So I'm quite sure you're safe with your 3.0" frag gray G-10 and 20CV XM-18 . . . at least for the foreseeable future.

Have owned all 3. If pocket clips matter to you, do not buy the Minos. The uncomfortableness is rivaled only by the microtech DOC clip. But if you are willing to take and leave the clip off, it's a great knife. probably the anso collab which comes closest to owning the custom

Well guys first of all I'd like to thqnk all of you for your time and info. It was a battle for the ages between the 0560/0561 and the Southard for the content of my wallet. I said I'd order a blade on friday and I did.

I came very close to ordering the Southard for it's sexy lines but in the end my inner mall ninja would have nothing of it and pushed me towards the Blackwashed 0560.

Congrats, man. I think you made a good choice. That blackwash just looks great on those knives.

I bet you're gonna like it a lot. Please post pics when you get it.

Good choice.
And it works well too (at least my 0561 does).
Used the 0561 last night to cut up this tough cardstock type material which came with a game.
Very fibrous, and didn't tear well, so it was time for a comparison. :)

The 0561 did as well as a brand new Swiss Army Knife for cutting through; some amount of force to cut with each.

I would say the lion steel or southard I have them both and carry them both I really can't say I prefer more one then tho other besides the southard carries better imo.

Sweet looking blackwash there. If you don't mind the weight, I'm sure you'll love it.

I thought the newer 0560's were supposed to have stainless steel lock inserts? Was I wrong?

The newest ones do. :)
With a bunch made up to now, it'll be a while till all are of the newest generation.

The Boker Minos is one of the few very high-quality Bokers. They over-built it and the price shows.

Sorry man, Boker is knocking it out of the park with quality these days. However, the Minos is ridiculously thick and not quick to deploy.

Squail, both Burnley Kwaikens, the Federal and the two Manaro models just to point out a few, the materials are there, fit and finish are awesome and the overall build is unparalleled.

The Southard is available in black, but my vote is for the ZT.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson
