Headed out for 2 days next weekend I was up there scouting today and it was snowy cold and wet....I'll be bringing a fiskars sport axe, and a vic farmer.... trying to decide on my fixed blade either my fallkniven f1 ( a proven performer) or my mini canadian (my most frequently used as of late) The f1 is slightly thicker and has just shy of 2 extra inches of cuting edge over the barkie (edge slightly over 2 inches) both are convex ground and take an edge easily, the f1 does seemt to hold it's edge better both slice on a comparable level... I can and have battoned with the f1 the barkies a little short for that, and I get a ful grip on the f1 handle I get a good comfy grip on the barkie handle but there is nothing extra.. I do get more control when whittling with the barkie although the f1 has done it's share... Honestly I'll probably end up bringing them both... but it's always nice to hear peoples thoughts...on a seperate note Found lots o bear sign today right around my campsight.... I guess there making thier last scramble for the winter....

You might want to bring a G.I. entrenching tool so you can shovel all that bear poo away from your campsite. :D
