nifrand...looksmlike that one still has plenty of skinning left in it...I don't think stainless wilol ever take the place of carbon steel for jobs like that...

Did this one have new scales put on? Ironwood?

Yes Jason, I did have new handles put on. They are Maple burl that grew here locally. This pattern for some reason Queen used 1095 blade steel. Which is just fine by me.

Buck made some more almost bigins' but the last slipjoints to really qualify are the GrandDaddy Barlows. These 'long knives' were Stamped Buck, but made as a special for SMKWs by Camillus. No model number just called GrandDaddy Barlows as pad stamped on blade. Discontinued. Small size Barlows were offered also. Low volume production.

The handle looks really good....looks like Ironwood. Was the wood dyed or stained darker?

I would carry it...would be great in the back pocket alongside a wallet if you carry your wallet there or in a belt pouch would is my preference for large knives.

I have too many favorites to carry just one particular knife... Even with my larger knives I rotate through them. I always have a pouch on the belt so there is normally a larger folder with me as well as a smaller slippie in a pocket.

Funny you should mention that, but the Amber No.6 Teardrop is one of my favourites too, but I'm openly promiscuous and keep a knife harem So many delights, so many possibilities.....
