Deep-carry Ti flipper of a specific length, ZT or otherwise?

I have one and I can send it to you, I am up in Lynden . Pm me your address I will get it out tomorrow.

Thank you for the offer! I have a question, but I'll switch to PM so as not to clutter up the thread.

Separately, I've also been doing more poking around and I have to say that the ZT0550 actually looks like it might work. Unlike the 562, which is 3.5" to the little "horn" into which the blade stops nestle, but is longer than 3.5" to the center of the handle and has a cutting edge which extends further than 3.5", the contours of the end of the handle on the 550 are quite different.

The swell in the center is the furthest-forward point (at least based on pictures), and the cutting edge stops before that point. It looks to me like the guard starts no deeper than 3.5" either.

Edit: Wow, halfway through a 550 review video I realized it wasn't a flipper. :p I believe I might be a wee bit tired today.

I believe all the ZT models that used to use that style of deep carry clip (like on the 0560 and the later gen 0550's) have been discontinued, so they may not have those spares to send out anymore.

The 0801 has been suggested, and it looks to be exactly 3.5" blade length (see pic below). If you're measuring all the way down to where the flipper tab is, though, then it will be a bit over 3.5".

If you are counting the blade length all the way to the flipper and the 0450 is too small, the closest I can think of is the 0566. It has steel handles instead of titanium, and it is assisted-opening (but it can be de-assisted pretty easily).

The 0808 is another one that almost fits your criteria, but it is about the same size as the 0450. So, if that was too small for your preference, the 0808 might be as well.

The 0900 is actually even smaller than those.

That is a hugely helpful set of comparison pics -- thank you very much!

I should have added that what keeps me circling back to look at the ZT0900, apart from the fact that its appearance is growing on me, are the in-hand shots I've seen from folks who have larger hands. Index in the finger groove, two on the body, pinkie on the "ramp" at the butt actually looks fairly comfortable -- and then there's the thumb cutout on the top.

In photos/videos, I've seen folks with bigger hands nestle their thumb in that spot, which changes how the knife fits in their palm and allows a full four-finger grip. It also looks to afford some extra control in a grip style I often find useful.

The 900 looks like a knife that will feel better in hand than it looks on paper, and the ergonomics and overall design are intriguing.

The 0900 is very well thought out. Even being a smaller knife, it makes good use of every bit of length that it does have. I have medium sized hands, and I find the 0900 very comfortable to grip. It is a shorter handle, but it doesn't feel cramped at all. Similarly with the 0808... Even though it is the same length as the 0450, it is actually a bit thicker, so it does fill the hand a little better.

Also, with the 0900, you can put a clip from a 0566 on it, and it will actually carry a bit deeper. You can always sand the paint off the clip if you want it to match the finish of the plain titanium more. The stock clip is on the left, and the right shows it with the clip from my 0566. It'll still have about 0.2" of the handle exposed (vs. about 0.4" with the default clip).

Thank you again! You're confirming the reasons why I'm drawn to the 900 -- it's small with intent, not small just to be small. It's an interesting knife.

How are the ergonomics with the slightly longer clip? It comes down a lot further on the handle, towards the flipper end, which can sometimes change things quite a bit.

I actually never really used it with the longer clip in place. I put it on as a curiosity to see how it would fit, but I've stuck with the default clip on the 0900 in actual use. The quick impressions from having the longer clip on is that didn't make that much of a difference in ergonomics. The surface of the clip rests against the flat of your palm (below the knuckles), and the top of the longer clip is still a bit short of the center of the index finger groove. So, it too should still sit flat against your palm.
