You just started a fire with a freaking deer antler! No one else has said it, so I will....Awesome innovation. Great work, and keep up the experiments!
 
Hmmmmm - much in the same way that you can use Oak as a hearth - as long as the spindle eats itself up and dumps it in the notch - it is possible.

Normaly I would agree on the spindle wearing down to build up dust to make the coal !

But not this time, check out at 1:30 mark the Candiru is sharp but not that sharp! The Mullien spindle almost went all the way through the antler in 3 bows.

I am glad you posted your reply!! I just got another idea for a bow drill experment!!
