Defiance (A Story of Survival)

WOW that does sound like a cool movie. I am going to look into getting the book to read.

I first heard of this story when I caught one of the few Ray Mear's shows I've seen on TV. He went to Belarus and met with some of the survivors of that time. They discussed woodcraft techniques, most interestingly--and incredibly--was how they would make shoes out of birch bark.

Stupendously incredible story, though. Combines modern-era combat-survival with ancient mountain-man primitive living.
 
Yeah, Mears was where I heard about it first too. Told my wife the story and she wants to see it as well. Looks to be a good survival/war story
 
Hopefully the film will be fairly accurate and not try and Hollywoodize this story.

Had a look on the tube but can't find any of the program Ray did. Shame as it showed quite a few bushcraft techniques that the survivors used at the time.
