definition of bladeplay?

Don't know about assisted Axis.

An Axis blade has a detent cam on the blade to keep blade closed. If the pivot screw is too tight for zero side to side play, the omega springs don't have the strength to overcome the friction and keep blade closed.

The only way to keep a full size Rukus closed in your pocket is to keep the pivot screw loose. Been there and have the cut pockets.

I define blade play as holding the blade and holding the handle, if I can feel that the blade isn't one piece of material with the handle it has blade play. So far every folding knife I've seen has blade play.

Before you flame me, I'm not saying it's bad on folders because they're built that way, but I hate when people say zero blade play (they probably mean wobble or excessive blade blade when they define it though).

Blade play is needed on folding knives, or they wouldn't be able to fold and function properly, but excessive blade play is ridiculous.
