Dejavoo

it was part of a discussion from the spyderco forum, I would try to find the exact quotation but the gist of it was that for some reason the knives would be assembled by spyderco. is does seem strange to the more I think about it. I'll be back soon

"Benchmade has contracted with Spyderco to produce the Vexx (and other round-hole-openers) under licence, Benchmade has permission to use the SpyderHole opening system on these specific knives only, these knives are built for us by our freinds at Spyderco, but they are a Benchmade warrantied and covered product, the SpyderHole is a Trademark of Spyderco and is used under licence"

this passage was quoted at the source remains unknown to me, it might even be a theoretical they should say this type of quote

I see. I know they have an agreement... but an agreement to produce?
The Vexx is made in China or Taiwan... so why would they need spyderco.
Maybe they are using the same people Spyderco uses for the Byrd line?

I guess the thing I see is that the Dejavoo uses the modified
liner lock w/ titanium liners which BM is known for.

But hey.. you never know. Stranger things have happened.

I wonder what would happen if they merged?
would it be called BenchCo? SpyderBench? SpyderMade? :)

Check your sources, that passage is full of misinformation.

I think these are awesome looking knives. Just one question, had a mini AFCK and the liner lock was awful (never bought another BM Linerlock - Well, a MiniSkirmish, but that's different). How's the lock on these?

The round hole is trademarked and Spyderco did license BM to use the hole, but I am pretty sure that the Deja Vu is made in Oregon City, OR by Benchmade. It is more likely that the BM Vex is made in the same factory in China as the Byrd knives, but I am not sure.
