Wow thanks for sharing that pic I might try that on my griptillian. And to the new member don't give up just follow the rules. These mods probably work super duper hard to keep this place clean. Day in and day out. If they didn't it would be spam everywhere and people ripping off each other left and right. Good luck and happy cutting..

Your a good guy killgar. Thanks for showing that "exploded" pic.

I hope the OP has second thoughts. This truly is a great forum.

Mighty thin skin on the OP. Guess he never heard the word 'no'.

ok what is wrong of discussing/asking the value of a knife by nonpaid members, like the thread about sebenza that got locked yesterday soon after some informative and meaningful discussion just started?
Looks like reading the rules would work for you also.

The op was made aware of the rules and encouraged to edit the post, which he did.
There is nothing that I know of against the rules in the edited op.
I've seen other posts that went exactly the same way without closure.

What his edit did was just slap a little paint on it, as my father used to say. He has "...sell at this time.....", implying it would be for sale in the future. Still a violation of the rules.

You have two choices, log out and go away or give this place another chance. This place is a wealth of information and you are only going to lose out if you let little things bug you. You got off to a bad start, just give it another chance.

A bad start that will probably never be brought up again ,unless you do the same thing over and over again.

A friend of mine on here was saying the other day about how we've all posted some stuff we wish no one had seen or said some things we shouldn't of said and made mistakes .

It happens , as long as you don't keep on breaking rules and don't troll you'll be good to go . If your a knife person you won't find another place like this on the net.

I usually make an ass out of myself at least once a week on here ,I'm corrected and I move on .

As far as your thread getting locked while others dont. Our mods are people too they don't live on here . If they see something they will do something about it if they don't it may slide . Not really favoritism just what mod is online what got reported to them what did they see etc.

One thing your not going to see a lot of around here is hand holding or to word it better people saying oh its going to be OK etc. If you make a mistake you'll be called on it , don't take it personal as the ones that do it (I'm guilty too) don't mean it personal. Same guy that calls you out for breaking a rule will help you out the same day in a thread with a question it's just how it is

Yes, that was explained to me here, yesterday.
Thanks.

Here's an "exploded" pic-

The order, from right/top to left/bottom- threaded aluminum post, 1/2" sealing washer (rubber washer bonded to concave steel washer), blade, sealing washer, washer, 8-32 screw. All parts available at Home Depot, and Lowes. Probably elsewhere too.

The sealing washers are a perfect fit for the AFCK opening hole. The rubber portion press-fits into the hole, but the metal portion is too big to pass through.

The aluminum threaded posts are sold individually and come in a variety of lengths. The one I used is 1/8th" long (a longer one can always be filed down).

I had to cut away some of the rubber inside the sealing washer on the side of the blade opposite the screw in order for the post to fit through the washer.

In regards to the threaded posts, the ones sold at Home Depot have thick edges around the head, but the ones sold at Lowes have tapered edges giving them a smoother, lower profile (at least those are the ones they sold the last time I was there). I used one from Lowes.

I was very happy with how easily it all went together and how well the stud performed. It was much easier to operate than the hole, especially with gloves on. That was my experience anyways.

^ Thanks for posting this information & picture, Killgar!

^ +1 on each of these!

Killgar, like you I bought Chris Caracci's collaboration knife when it first came out, to this day still one of my all time favorite SD/Utility/Tactical knife, like you I used the hell outta that knife, unlike you I never bought another so all I have is my well used original. At this point it has so much sentimental value and I don't have the heart to send it back to BM and risk having a problem. Even being assured from the folks at BM's customer service that hey would take extra special care of my treasure I couldn't do it.

But my wife's lyin' in a hospital bed alongside me recovering from back surgery and I like to post pictures of my well used AFCK so because of kill gar I'm postin' my pic and to the OP, if you form your opinion of this site that fast and with only your short interaction I'd like to say stick around and give us a chance but on second thought if you're that quick to dismiss than your passion for knives must not be as great as you think it is and maybe you might be better seeking answers on FB or gettin' your valuations from the completed auction searches from Ebay. Best of luck and lookin' forward to more from you but I doubt you have anything to add to our community so best of luck gettin' your answers elsewhere, don't forget to log out it was interesting for about 2 minutes.

Here's a well used, well loved, modified AFCK , what's it worth? I'll tell ya, even at the risk of bein' gigged. It's priceless, it means more to me than I could put a value on, someone else maybe can but with your attitude I hav e a feelimn that won't be happein ' anytime soon... but hey, I've been wrong before.

T, My best wished for your wife on her surgery. I hope she recovers quickly.

One of my sisters has had back, or back related, surgery 2x. She has said that no matter how painful or uncomfortable the post-surgery PT is, you absolutely MUST GOTTA do ALL the PT exercises that they prescribe. AND continue to do the exercises AFTER being released from PT. The woman had a broken bone glued back together with titanium rods and screws and cadaver bone dust in her back for the first one. Then 12 years later she had to have bolts put through her pelvis as 75% of all people and 90% of the women who have her first kind of back surgery end up needing the hip surgery within 6 years.

I have a couple of cousins and 1 ex-friend who also had back surgeries who DIDN'T follow through with the prescribed PT and they are paying for it now.

Hope the Mrs isn't in too much pain and recovers better than new Ted! Have had 7 spinal surgeries and they are NOT fun at all!!

Great pics guys!!
Joe
