Hmmm, the LCC is a nice knife. Real high level of workmanship there, and very sharp as you found out. Yikes! But I'm glad I sold mine...This just confirms it for me. On a better designed knife there would have been some sort of guard to keep your hand from sliding down onto the blade, or a grippier handle at least.

Glad to hear you're going to be OK.:)

Robert,
Glad to hear the damage is not permanent. Now, when it heals, you will have a nice scar to remind you of the importance of having a sharp knife. If it was not scalpel sharp, do you KNOW how much that would have hurt:eek:  Also, being an LCC, no need to worry about nasty bacteria;) ;) I always keep some very lightweight STREN fishing line and a suture kit so I can save FACE and not need the ER. I, sir, seem to cut flesh quite alot of times:o Take care, get well.....wolf

I've cut myself b4 but never like that. Your little story gave me shivers down my spine:eek:

I have to say the worst that i have ever cut myself was when playing with one of my peice of sh$% beaters (think it was a guardian lockback) when opening it and leaving it on my computer desk. Time passed as i forgot about it and then bumped the table when getting up and it dropped:eek: and as a reaction i went and tried to catch it:eek: (stupid ay) Well in the end it carved a large deep hole into my little finger with blood dripping every where.

Another funny story was when my friend and i were at a park and he had a look at another peice of sh$% beater i had on me. He picked up a leaf and raised the knife above his head. Well he swung and of coarse missed the leaf completely and embedded the blade into his thumb. You would't believe how long it took for it to stop bleeding.

Anybody else got sories they would like to share?

LISTEN TO ME NOW. Go see a hand surgeon. Don't listen to what anyone else says. You may have sliced a tenton, if you could see bone, then you most deffinately sliced tenton. I sliced my tendon months ago and the doctor said it would be fine, 6 months later I am going to have to get surgery. Don't ignore it. Take it from me.

What kind of handle material is it on this MT model? Would g-10 saved you by giving you a better grip? Or a model with some kind of guard like the Emerson Commander? If you can get this badly injured at home think of what might've happend in a real life self-defense situation where you're all stressed out, maybe got sweaty hands etc. good post I think it will make some of us think twice about what to carry.

That's one of the complaints I have about the LCC and many other knives - they really should have some kind of handguard or finger grove.

Robert,

I am interested regarding the cause for this accident.
Do you think the handle of the LCC is not suitable/safe for hard stabs or was this accident the result of inattention?

Let’s hope that this cut does not results to long-term damages!

Don't worry, it happens. About 4 weeks ago I decided to try sword and dagger with my weak hand (sword in left hand, knife in right)> I had done this with training blades and no problem. I heard a ziiiiippp, looked down, and lo and behold, I'm cut. got really lucky though, it could've been worse. The cut was on the inside of my left forearm, approx. 1/8"(guesstimate) from where the artery is located and about 1 1/2" from the inside of the wrist. The cut is about this long ---- and I could see the muscle tissue underneath. It just got the top layer of skin! Barely bled at all (about 1 minute of free flow):D A couple of butterflies and the new active care bandages from Band-Aid, and I was training sword and dagger in East TN the next weekend, locking/tapping/disarming/being whacked in arm with stick and knife pommel:rolleyes:
The last advice is good though, let a doctor check it out. I cut my left ring finger years ago and had the fortune os seeing the bone as well. Can't feel my fingertip now AND I DID GO TO A DOCTOR!! Cut the nerve right in half. Oh well......

That was a bad one. I think that happens if you use kives very much.

Whenever I cut myself I try to hide it. If my girlfriend finds out, she takes my knife collection away from me for a week!

Hope it heals up for you soon.

I hurts just hearing about it
Good luck with the hand. I hope it heals fast.

Yes, a knife with a good guard and grip is all I buy these days.

S.

I had some bad cut history myself.

one thing for thrusting though a must have is a finger groove alla BM afck or a guard in FB or a hump like a spydie police. something to stop the slide.

I stay away from MT's, emerson's cqc7 and basically any knife without a guard of some sort.

slippage is painfull and debilitating.

glad you are ok.

whatabout better handle material, like g-10? you reckon that will not be enough? that you still would need some kinda guard? and another thing, a guard is good for not letting your fingers slide on to the blade, but suppose a blade closes on you, is there anything preventing that from happening (if the lock fails) ?

chrisaloia,

I disagree with your opinion that all Microtech folders are not suitable for hard stabs.
The Vector and the SOCOM Elite handles presents enough protection regarding slipping towards the blade.
The following picture of the MT Vector model speaks for itself and I am sure concerning the SOCOM Elite model because I have tested it more than once.

handle guards...G10..."grippy"...unsafe designs...WHAT ARE YOU GUYS ALL NUTS??? Or, is it just me? Our hero was running around STABBING HIS FURNITURE, and you are blaming the knife??? Am I the only one who sees a problem with this whole scenario? Do all of you go around stabbing your furniture to entertain company?

Jeez, wy wife has a hard enough time understanding my hobby!

uhm... yeah. I'm with RH on this one. As soon as I read the story, I began to wonder about BlackRazor. Who stabs sofas for fun? Don't you people know that sofas have wooden and metal frames? Training with a knife is one thing. Playing with a knife is another.

Reminds me of my cousin sharpening up a butter knife with the electric sharpener and then trying to carve a pipe out of a piece of wood he'd found. Cutting TOWARD his hand, he of course slipped and oops! There goes a tendon. After getting stitches and scheduling surgery, he came home and tried again. Ooops! Four more stitches in the other hand. I wound up carving the pipe and presenting it to him. Since he had no insurance, the pipe only cost him about $3500.

Some people shouldn't play with knives.

That said, I plan to give him a CRKT Mirage for Xmas. That was ten years ago, and he seems a little older and a little wiser. Let's hope BlackRazor gets a little wiser too.

Well, there are another pair of reasons why I like my REKAT Sifus so much...Full fingergrooves, and non-slippery G-10 scales. I have done some stabbing/slashing drills with my Sifus, and they DON'T move in my hand no-matter how hard I stab or hit with them.:).
