Would this have ANYTHING to do with a previous post? ;)

Here is my OCD case...this should be a fun thread...EDC on steroids!

Here was my inspiration from a few years ago...someone from this forum I believe.

I may not be the sharpest tool in the shed (though I probably have it clipped in my pocket), but OCD is not a term that I'm familiar with.

Overt Carry Daily?

Odd Cumbersome Domahicky?

Ostentaious Clumsy Domathingabobby?

Somebody help old Troll Bait here!

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Outdoors Carry Daily? Seriously now, what kind of case are you using? That must have been a PITA to cut out the foam for your gear. Did you buy duplicates of your the knives etc. that are in your OCD case?

TheKnifeCollector,

I guess I do get it now. I thought that you were joking about the obsessive compulsive disorder, but after doing a search on the internet (Does the search function here not work for registered users? I can't get it to work, anyway.) I now realize that this really must mean an Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Case, for folks that don't have enough pockets in their BDUs to carry all their gizmos.

If I were to construct such a case, then I'd want to include a multitool, a bowie, a pistol, a flashlight, a first aid kit, and a firestarter of some type, for starters. An ASP baton would be a good addition, as well.

Maybe an oversight on my part, but I don't see any sharpening gear for touch ups. Just a thought, Nice kit , I guess there is something to the Scout saying" BE PREPARED"

My case is also fitted to carry my Sig 226 (.357) if I remove the first aid kit.

All kidding aside - having dealt with serious mental illness before (professionally) I do NOT want to make light of this disorder. Most people say that I am only obsessive compulsive - but not to the point of disorder, because it HELPS my life, not disrupts it. For people with full blown OCD - their life can become a living hell and they also become prisoners to their fears and obsessions.

PLEASE understand that there is NO disrepsect intended in this post.

BTW - yes it was a pain to do the foam - although it was the pick-n-pluck foam from Pelican...made it easier for this type of job.

And I did NOT mean any disrespect when I said Obessive Compulsive Disorder either. I know the seriousness of mental illnesses. I am obsessive about somethings in my life too, and I can TOTALLY relate to you Sproles. I was gonna ask if there was a particular type of foam that might be easiest to cut? Or was that the easiest stuff to cut? Thanks for this excellent thread!!

Same here. I know that OCD can be hell for some folks. Never would I wish to offend regarding this. Don't believe anyone here did.

My wife certainly thinks that I have OCD concerning knives, guns, and writing!

As always - TOTALLY impressed with the people in here...thanks for the support in respecting this issue.

NOW - to something much lighter: the foam that Pelican eally advertises is their "Pick-n-Pluck. It is scored left to right and top to bottom in about 3/8"sections...they might be 1/4", but I think they are slightly bigger. What I did was take a thin, long blade and cut through the "perforations" of the section that I want to remove and then pull it out. It is fairly easy to work with except when you get real close to another section that has been plucked or towards the edge of the foam.

Good selection of tools. Two questions:

Is this a case just for keeping essentials organized in one spot at home, or is it for travelling, or both?

Also, what's that good-looking skeleton-handled fixed blade with the Kydex (?) sheath? I want one!

This case does both. Most of my travel USED to be local - car travel and this was great to toss in the back seat. I wore suits everyday and this was more professional looking than my Maxpedition Pygmy Falcon. On longer trips I could also fill that baby up.

That knife is a Simonich Bitterroot...they will difficult to find now since Rob's death - I believe their production has really slowed. It took me awhile to find this one. You may want to check with On/Scene Tactical (Normark her eon bf.com) I believe that he knew Rob and also may have some of his knives for sale - don't know for sure. Normark made the sheath for this one.

PS - thanks for the compliments

I have OCD. Not very bad, though.

I wash my hands more in a day than most people do in a month and take far more time doing it, will only put my stereo volume on digits divisable by 2 or 5 with the addition of 3 (my Mom's lucky number) and 7 (a lucky number in general), and so on...

It doesn't hurt my life that much, but I wish it would manifest itself as a cool daily case with a pistol and a Sebenza instead!

Sproles-What is the prybar thing with the cord wrap? It looks like a handy gadget. Do you know if they are still available, and from where?

Fudo,
That's an Atwood pry bar...bug out bar, IIRC.

Sproles, what is the small light in your EDC pic? Very cool.

Being an OCD'er myself, I've often thought that the line between being Passionate (Hobbiest) about something and being Obsessive about it is EXTREMELY thin.

Fortunately, my obsessions to collect, is usually limited to one group at a time. Right now, knives. Prior, cigars, booze, golf, the list foes on forever.

Actually, I have a great life.

Atwood Micro Pry Bar - Peter Atwood is on here a bunch and he has this type of thing on his site...great guy to work with, too! He has many addictive type of things to catcj your eye - be VERy careful! :o

THAT, my friend, has been one of the best finds that I have made in YEARS. I frequent the candlepowerforums.com and was looking for a replacement for my Nuwai Qiii light as my EDC - this is the Jil 1.3w Light (UP) - I LOVE this thing. VERy bright and is a MICRO sized light compared to the Qiii. Let me know if you have any questions or want any more pics. I actually added 2 small tritium vials on the non-lense end so I could find it at night or in the dark...cool effect.
