Delica-4 FFG to Native-5 LW ?

You are right about that. But I consider this way to hold it as the main hold for the knife and choking back only when necessary for additional reach.

Same could be said for the delica, it's comfortable in a normal hold but there's no choil for a forward grip on the knife. Just different ways of holding the knife. They both offer roughly the same amount of cutting edge either way, it boils down to fit, finish and solidity for me. And I prefer the grip on the native 5.

To each his own!

Agreed.

Agreed and what made me try the Native was how much better it looked closed.
Yes I forgot that ! Awesome look when closed !
The Delica have to stay open to be "nice", so for a folder ... :D

The Native DO NOT have blade play in any ways. The lock and everything feels more solid.
And I speak about the FRN one.
So G10 should be a little tank ! (I should own one soon)

Love the blade shape of the Native !
(I had to make the top of the blade of the Delica 4 like the old Delica, without the strange not straight tips. Now it look so much better, I feel I have a new knife !:cool: )

Well, as I can no longer afford to "collect" knives that I won't use, I'm forced to send back the Native-5 LW and my also newly acquired Endura-4 FRN. The Native is just a bit too chunky for me. I also don't care for the "hollow" sound/click that it makes when then blade is deployed. Its makes it sound like the scales are some cheap plastic material, although I know it's not. The Endura, quite frankly, is just something that longer than I care to carry. Sure, it would made quick work of my 2-3 apples that I slice up everyday, but I've been making out just find with my Delica-4 FFG. So for now, it will be my Delica-4 FFG (and Vic Executive) that rides with me each day.

I want to thank everyone for their comments and input. It's really appreciated.

I have neither, but I think the blade steel on the Native 5 is a plus .

The Delica and Native are two of my favorites. Most of the time I carry the Native, though.

A couple more photos for reference:

Native5 is by far the most beautiful Spyderco I have. (Followed by the Nilakka which is the most special knife I own). The delica (together with endura and tenacious)are in my opinion too banal to be part of my armament.

Agreed about the Native. Though, I've always seen the Delica and Dragonfly as the ultimate expression of function-as-form. Their functionality is their beauty to me. Agreed about the Tenacious, too, though a couple of the sprint runs look cool.

But why pick one, or even two?

I agree with you about the dragonfly; in fact I have several dragonflies that I like a lot.
