Well I don't really support non USA made knives, but I've gotten a few review requests on this model... I feel I should not base my opinion on in-store initial impressions, which are negative due to the thick grind. I feel that I should USE one to see what Sal has in mind for what is, in my opinion, a cut corner... I realize that it is a "beginner" knife to offer the layman something to pry open paint cans and open beer bottles with, but Case comes to mind here, where when someone breaks a blade, I'd imagine the person blames themselves..

Anyway, I am REALLY looking forward to USING it instead of speculating... I will have a review on YouTube around a week after it's arrival!! LOOKING FWD TO IT!

To the untrained eye, the Delica may not look like much, but that's because this knife speaks more to the hand than to the eye.
Given, it has a somewhat thicker edge than most in that length category, but as a general utilityknife it is practically unsurpassed.
Especially when you consider the ZDP189 steel in the premium model.

you cant beat how spydercos feel in hand, except maybe by how well they perform

I like how it looks.

The round hole and the straight spine, thinning down to a pointy tip. It has a certain style to it, especially with a serrated edge. Essential Spyderco. It's not less beautiful than other knives, it just looks different to what people usually expect a knife to look like.

perhaps I am misunderstood... I think the knife looks excellent! The ONLY thing I really don't like about it is the obtuse grind... bit I'm interested in what it's all about.

I think you'll find that it's an excellent all-around utility knife.

However, it pales in comparison to the UKPK that you reviewed earlier, as far as slicing is concerned.

Look forward to the review. :)

IMHO, few things compare to Spyderco's Volcano textured FRN handles. They may not be the prettiest looking, and some people don't like the plastic feel... But for a secure grip on the handle, minimal weight and durability, they're pretty hard to beat!

The chunky-looking Saber grind will surprise you, too!

.....and the flat, thin handles make for remarkably "friendly" pocket carry, as well.

Archie, I thought I was the last one who cared if products where made in the US. I know I'm not, just seems that way when you look at things during the day. I bought the Delica G10 knowing full well it was made in Japan. I have to say I really like this knife, now I am no expert on knives. I only own a couple of SOG's and a small Sebenza plus the Delica, but the Spyderco gets a lot of carry time. Take care to all, Jake.

I too have just purchased a Delica 4 SE.

It just came yesterday.

I am going to try to carry this knife given the choice with the many other knives that I have. It seems like the absolute perfect size for any task.

I have an Endura 4 PE, and 2 Pacific Salts, one in PE and one in SE and they all seem huge compared to the Delica.

I also recently purchased a Tasman Salt, but havent been able to carry it yet. It too seems like the optimum size for anything you may have to do.

I have to say though, because I work on boats, (as an Engineer on shore, not a deckhand) that I can see where it would be a darn good idea to have a bigger fully serrated blade on you for cutting line in an emergency. That stuff is thick.
