Delica 4 quality?

The Delica 4 is not perfect. The low price means the tolerances are less than spectacular, but 9/10 at the least will he perfectly usable and safe. For around $50 you would he hard pressed to find a better knife.

If you want to maximize your bang for the buck, splurge a little and get the ZDP Delica. You are unlikely to be disappointed.

I agree that no knife is perfect. Tolerances being "less than spectacular" is very subjective to say the least. I could say the same about the Sebbie and not be untruthful if I'm used to precision at greater levels than are needed in cutlery applications.

Completely subjective to the point of being silly.

Is there any point of the Delicas or Enduras tolerances that fall short in your opinion? Other than the edge from being hand sharpened by 3rd and sometimes 4th generation cutlers from the same family. Hand sharpening by cutlers was, and still is a sign of quality as opposed to soulless CNC machines and was a part of the sales pitch for all good quality knives just as hand made was part of Rolls Royces sales pitch up until robots took over jobs like spot welding. :)

The bevel of these knives ( especially Japan vendors) is the only complaint I recall ever hearing with any type of consistency. The pocket in the lock back that traps dirt to keep the lockup from failing from debris causes a little blade play if pushed down with great force but that isn't a fault, but a design feature.

Am I missing any? I've carried the Endura mostly since 92 so I do know the designs pretty well and do think the Enduras and Delicas are pretty spectacular when looking at the overall package.

I've had a Delica4 vg-10, frn, ffg for a year now.
It's a great knife and I'm completely satisfied with it.
No problems, no issues.
I'll probably get another one.

The Delica 4 is a great knife. It is a great edc size and great knife for the money. I have not seen people that really dislike it. I have 2 and enjoy them both.

I don't own one yet but when you first get the Delica, would it be a good idea to put loctite on the screws as soon as you get the knife?

Delica 4 in British Racing Green with ZDP189 is my first Spyderco knife and still the part of my EDC rotation.
It was very smooth and sharp out of the box.
Never had a need to use a Loctite.

I've owned older Delicas as well as the latest Delica 4 ffg in both vg10 and super blue and I can honestly say that the newer ones are better in everyway. If your looking for a slim/lightweight edc knife IMO the Delica is about as good as it gets for $60.
