Besides a finger choil like the PM2, what else would you like to see? I for one would like G10 scales to be offered on a regular basis.

it wouldnt be a Delica if it had a choil .

Ken
Agreed, I think it's part of the defining characteristics (even though I would love a choil).

I'd like to see a different lock. Liner would be my absolute ideal, I'd settle for compression.

At least a 5mm thick blade
Dagger grind (single edge)
Glass breaker
Combo edge (plain and serrated)
Ti handle
Frame lock
. . . oh . . . and at least two or more skulls worked into the general mishmash.
annnnnnnd DUDE : a chisel grind on the plain edge ! ! !

(you know I'm kidding right) (yeah . . . kidding big time)

Kidding aside (for a minute at least)
The only thing I would change is add a compression lock.
I like the FRN ! It is functional (more grippy than G10), maybe a little thicker than the G10 version might be and I don't mind looking at the more visually interesting texture . . . the smooth patch under the pocket clip is very desirable and cuts down on pocket wear.
. . .
. . .
maybe add a parkerized clip rather than painted though the painted looks great when well cared for.

Now that you sort of painted the picture of it, what I want already exists: I need a Mantra 1 with the flipper removed. Then it would be a Ti framelock Delica!

Realistically now . . .
I would kill for a 2mm blade at the spine; OK I was lying just to fit in ( ) . . . I meant 1.5mm. ;)
My EDC Cold Steel fixed blade below is 1.7mm at the spine but I don't need all that car door demolishing goodness in a folder . . . 1.5mm would be plenty.

I'm with you Ken! I actually like the Delica just the way it is. I like a finger choil too but there are plenty of other models with that feature. Besides, a set of Boomer's G10 Lil' Para-Delica scales converts the knife into what the OP is asking for.

I personally think all of the jimped finger choils are a design flaw. They catch on material unless your finger is always there and if that’s the case then the handle should be redesigned. The smooth ramp on the delica and endurance are perfect. Plus, just because it’s not called a “finger choil” doesn’t mean you can’t put your finger there. ;)

The only thing I can see as a positive change would be to upgrade the steel in the base model. Never did care for vg10.

I agree with this.
One other thing I'd like to see is an upgraded lock; tighter tolerances like on the Native 5 and Manix 2 lockbacks. Of course the Delica is made in Japan so that might be an issue.

Slipjoint model (Always reground the backlock to slip), deep carry clip, remove that hump in the front end of the grip(without turning it to an actual deep choil). The FRN worked great but I'd love to see a Ti model that isn't a disgrace to the delica name. Also Micarta scales are always a plus :D steelwise: ZDP, all day every day. Absolutely favorite steel. Maybe move the basemodel from VG-10 to M4 or something :D

No Choil, other models have that feature.

The ONLY detail I would suggest changing is to eliminate the screw holes for mounting clip around the blade pivot. This allows dirt to enter the pivot and washer area on the blade.
I have never seen anyone carry the Delica in tip down position.

Regards,
FK

As soon as much changes, it is a new design. Spyderco makes a wide variety of designs, so keep the Delica the Delica. My favorites are the sprints that are "better" steel. I am not a fan of VG10 and my current favorite that has been available is the hap40. Everything is good to go. It ain't broke, no need for fixin'.

I would like to see a regular Salt 2 linerless handle in black and a CPMS35VN blade (M390, S90 etc would be cool for limited runs). Thats all I need. Liner-less handle of Salt2 is a little thicker and makes the knife MORE comfortable and lighter.

Or just make a Salt2 with LC200N and I won't ask for a new more cool Delica :D

The Ti clip they're using on the Salt 2 digs into my palm. Other than that I like the new handle.

On the other hand, these holes make it easier to apply lube to the pivot area without needing to disassemble the knife.

To the OP - the plain Jane Delica 4 with the current setting (handle material, blade steel, lock, pocket clip, jimping, choil-lessness, ...) is perfect. If I have to find one area to change, that would be the retail price - please lower it for about $15.

Seki Spydies will use Japanese steels. M4 is American I believe.
Hap40 is just as keen but I would bet the general public would prefer stainless.

Tip down here. Never cared for tip up carry. I’m weird. :D

I don't want a choil. However, I would like to see Spyderco update the Delica and Endura with the Native's improved backlock.
