I've owned a Delica several years, but sold it. I've since received a new one and have a question concerning the blade edge. I don't know the technical name, but the area of the blade that has the "edge" seems different to me, much bigger.

Is this how it should look?

Thanks.

I got a PM2 that looks like that, bigger then my other PM2's. It's sharp as hell though.

It looks about like it should look. The actual edge is a little tall so the previous owner sharpened at a little shallower angle than the factory did.

But yes if you are talking about the whole side of the blade, Mr. average is right that the blades have been made with different grinds. Do a google image search and you will find lots of them each way.

No, my old one was FFG. As far as this being sharpened, this is supposed to be brand new, unused and from the factory.

That's a good looking edge. Same knife, wider bevel means a lower sharpening angle. All good.

I think he's talking about the secondary bevel, not the primary. My delica (purchased a month or two ago) also surprised me because the secondary bevel was larger than my PM2 was. It was sharp as hell though, and looked almost polished though I bought it brand new. I think it might be sharpened at a lower angle compared to some of their other knives (like maybe 30* inclusive instead of 20* or 25*).

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to say or not, but I purchased it from a major knife dealer that works :), as a new item.

I'm basically trying to figure out if I really did get a new/unused knife from this dealer or something that was worked on.

I just got a ffg super blue delica and I wish it came with an edge like that. I'm starting to exclusively like a steep scandi-like grind. I might have to regrind mine more like yours. Consider yourself lucky!
