Delica Clip, lanyard hole slot burrs...

Been meaning to mention this, there have been 3 Delicas go through my hands that have rough burrs sticking out, made when the cross-slots are put on, then when they wear down, the cross-slots look uneven, then the clip holder-laynard hole looks cheap, cannot sand them down without taking off the black finish. I know Spyderco has great stuff, and I like to praise them, but I think they were a bit too quick on this, or these got thru QC? Enduras and Natives have the same style clip I believe...

Just remembered, Japan makes these knives, at least the Delica, how ya going to tell them to deburr their parts? Never mind Sal,
take a break, and don't reply.

Mark - were these silver clips or black ones?
If we don't hear about a problem, and we missed it in QC, we would much rather know what to look for and improve. This site is great for that. The praise is nice, but actually we need the complaints more than the praise. Cooperation between the manufacturer and the ELU is necessary.

Our makers in Seki are vendors. They must work to my standards (which are really a pain in the butt). Some of them are excellent. Certainly among the best in the world. They think like we do...always make it better.

Alright Sal,
(these comments are in regard to the large screws that have a thru-hole for the lanyard, and anchor the clip to the knife, a great idea I believe)
Black clips.
One of the CNC lathe machinists has the same problem with his Delica, rough burrs, hard on the hands or pockets.
If the turn(face)tool does not take a deburr pass, after slotting the cross-slots, the parts need to be sanded, face down on a steel plate(with sandpaper on top), IMO and his. Kinda typical stuff, that can squeak by...
but could or should be better made, gotta sometimes forget that fast cycle and think quality IMO.

Thanks for your reply Sal, I like your thinking...wisdom, reasoning, etc.

I have noticed the burrs on 3 of Delicas(black clips) I have seen, one at REI, one at a local Army surplus, and one that I have.

I put 550 cord through the one at the Army Surplus and the burrs frayed the line.

Also noticd that the clip screws on my Native is different, the points of the slices of the pie, as opposed to the coin slots, are cut again to be back from the hole, where the Delica clip screws, the pies go all the way to the hole.

Also are the black screws of a differnet metal than the steel ones? My black screw are a bit scarred by the coin.

Marion, Mark - thanx. fraying the lanyard somewhat contradicts the presence of a lanyard hole? Need to look into that.

Native clips are made in US. slightly different materials. New Native clips will be black. Leaving here in the next month. We'll use Black T. Won't stay on forever, but at least it's not shiny silver.

Since we are on the topic of those reversible clip screws, I' ve also found the slots finished a bit rough on my Delica. I carry it in my vest pocket more often than clipped in my pants pockets and leave the clips off. But it would add to the overall quality to have them finished without burrs.
