I got on bladehq’s mailing list for when this guy finally goes on sale. Got an email this morning saying they’re in and went to buy it on my lunch break but the site says out of stock. Did they sell out or is there something else going on? I’ve never done the notification thing before. Checked a couple other vendors and they don’t have any either. I’m hoping I didn’t miss out.

I've been thinking about picking one of these up, so I've been following a lot of the dealers. DLT, GP, and National Knives are currently in stock.

BladeHQ has been going in and out of stock today. I actually just got an order in through them a couple hours ago after learning my lesson about KnifeCenter pre-orders.

Do tell? I have ordered KC before no issues, but if there's a reason not to I'd like to know.

Nothing terrible or anything like that. I like KnifeCenter and have been given great customer support by them. I just won't pre-order through them.

I had a pre-ordered the HAP40 Delica through KnifeCenter about a month ago. After seeing that DLT Trading, GPKnives, etc had stable stock several hours after the release (this is my first sprint purchase so I wasn't sure if it was the type that would sell out instantly), I sent KnifeCenter a message asking if they could check on my order. They told me the knives had started trickling in and the pre-orders were being filled on a first come first serve basis. They had no way of telling me if my order would be filled and I would have to possibly wait several weeks to find out.

I didn't see the point of going through that when BladeHQ, DLT Trading, GPKnives, National Knives, New Graham Knives, Smokey Mountain Knife Works, etc all have had them in stock all day (and all but BladeHQ still have stock).

^ When doing pre-orders it's important to get on the list early in the process. I've done a lot of pre-orders (20+?) and I've had all my orders filled. But I keep an eye on the forums and dealer sites and manage to get on the list early. If you don't get on the list early it may take awhile for your order to get filled or it may not get filled at all. If you're late, then I suggest keeping your pre-order and then watch for the knife to become in stock at another dealer. Once you find it in stock elsewhere, place your order and then cancel your pre-order with the original dealer.

I received notification a couple days ago that my pre-order for the Delica Wharnie HAP40 was shipped. I should have it Monday. I was on the list early but it still took some time to ship after they started to drop. I could've easily ordered from another dealer, cancel my pre-order, and have my knife sooner. I was pretty confident my pre-order would be filled so I decided to have patience and just wait.

Got it. Love it.

There’s a job at work that requires me to cut foam and I always have to go out and get my “car millie” to do it because my regular shaped delica was just a hair too short. Just did the job today with the wharncliffe and it worked. Just a tweak in the blade shape made the difference. If only it wasn’t orange... :D

May have to franken it if a racing green model shows up.

One complaint though. I like tip down carry and the pocket clip wouldn’t fit over the pivot screw. It doesn’t have the cut out for it like the pakkawood version. I had to put that one on. Anyone need a stainless delica clip?

Received mine yesterday. I'm already in love.

It's hands down the sharpest knife out of the box I've ever received. The burnt orange scales are gorgeous, and the slightly uneven grind of the sandwiched steels gives it some character. :) The polished clip is a VERY nice touch! At first I was thinking about picking up a deep carry clip, but since this will be a knife for actual work, I want it to be easily accessible with gloves so I think I'll keep it stock.

This quite possibly could be my ultimate work knife when I'm in the cooler. Definitely a keeper.

I got mine a few days ago. After putting it through its paces, I can say it’s a workhorse. It’s also the sharpest factory blade I’ve ever received.

Well this is interesting. I was confused when you wrote this because my Wharncliffe HAP40 from BladeHQ has the cutout for the pivot screw... Then the Wharncliffe HAP40 that KnifeCenter sent me by mistake after I canceled my pre-order came in. Looks like that one doesn't have the cutout. Strange that Spyderco would use two different clips on a sprint run.

Shotgun Shotgun also received one without a hole punched out for the pivot screw though... Not sure where he ordered it from.

I can’t see KnifeCenter swapping the clip out on me...

GP Knives, Knife Center, Knife Works and DLT Trading have photos of the Hap40 wharncliffe delica with the solid pocket clip. BHQ shows it with the standard Delica clip. weird

Some must have been assembled with incorrect pocket clip at factory in Japan.
Interesting how this will play out.

The clip without lanyard hole appears to be identical to Para 3.

FK

Hmmmm, seems like there are two different clips shipping with the Delica hap40 wharncliffe. My came from an authorized (and trusted Spyderco dealer) and has the solid clip, I actually like it better then the hole version
