Delica measurements

Hi guys,

I´m planning on making some titanium scales for an FRN Delica but I need some measurements for the materials.
Could one of you maybe measure the:

  • Overall handle thickness
  • thickness of the scales
  • and the thickness of the backspacer

Preferably in millimeters and all Delica models count (Stainless, Damascus, G10, FRN, Carbon....)

Thanks a lot!

About what I measure on a hap40 frn delica, it varies a little front to back, top to bottom...
•Overall handle thickness .4"
•thickness of the scales .15" each
•and the thickness of the backspacer .1"

Sorry, my calipers are sae only.

Welcome to BFC VALE !!!!!!!!
Even though most knives of the same model look the same, and may be interchangeable with each other, there's always that slight variance that makes them different.
I've had a few knives sent out for custom handles. I've had to send the knife to the pimper for a factory fit for my knife. You may run into fit/finish issues using a generic pattern for all Delica's

I would think that if you wanted to make new scales for a knife you would have one on hand, instead of rely on measurements, right or wrong, from others.

Thanks a lot for all the input so far and the kind welcome!
I don´t have the delica yet, that´s why I need the measurements from others.
At first I wanted to buy a SS Delica but then I noticed that it is just pinned and I want to be able to take my knife apart.
Then I found out about the Damascus Delica which would be pretty much the perfect one for me, but I doubt that I would use such a nice knife and it would be a shame if I had it just sitting on my desk all day long...
So I decided to buy a normal FRN Delica and make some titanium scales myself.

Well I´ve finally found the time to make a little prototype of my new delica handle.
It is just made out of some stainless steel for checking the ergonomics and if my design works out.
I´ve managed to get a second choil for more delicate works without loosing my "normal" girp on the knife by reshaping the handle.
There is no longer a gap between the handle and the blade and the handle is about 8mm shorter.
Sorry for the bad picture quality..

Again this is just a prototype.
I plan to make the real handles either out of titanium or a thin stainless steel plate with a layer of textured g10.
