Hello,

last year i decided to try the spyderco knives.
and i was amazed by the quality of them.
started with the tenacious model as an edc knife and short after that i bought a second tenacious for my father and now i've decided to buy another one lol.

question now is:
wich model is the most suitable for edc? ''hunting fishing and work or kitchen use ?
the Delica or the endura?
another question for the people who own one of these models, how is the lockback mechanism? trustable?
and are these models available in g10?

The delica is one of my favorites.Very light weight. It does everything I need it to do.

The only difference between the delica and endura is the size. If you have large hands the endura might be more comfortable. The delica is generally considered the best edc between the two but plenty of people who have bigger hands or just like having a large blade carry the endura. They are both light for their size and a great value. Plus you can get them in a variety of cool colors.

Both are suitable for EDC and the tasks you listed.

Which one to get depends on your hand size. The Delica is a bit smaller than your Tenacious and the Endura is a bit bigger. The Delica ZDP-189 is my primary EDC.

Neither come with G10 but there are custom G10 scales available.

If you're wanting a larger knife with G10, consider the Resilience.

ok thanks for the information.

is the lockback trustable aswell? had an italian lockback knife closing on my hand once during a hunting trip.
only bought liner locks after that.
and with spyderco's razor sharp edges i don't like to happen that again lol

The lock back is a non issue, as with any knife, you have to keep it clean of pocket lint and debris and it will never fail you. That's the only issue I've ever had with them, is the pocket lint.
The VG10 takes a killer edge and is easy to maintain.

I remember reading Sal Blessed post on the forum somewhere saying they have never been able to force a failure on a lock back in testing. That to me is enough to trust.

I trust them ... within reason.

If I were hunting, a folder would be backup to a fixed blade for game processing and camp chores. For a do-it-all hunting folder, I'd go with a Cold Steel Recon 1 with its uber-reliable Tri-Ad lock.

For fishing, I use a Dragonfly Salt and Tasman (Delica) Salt. The Pacific (Endura) Salt is all you need.

For work, depends on the work. Again, for a real hard-use folder, the Recon 1.

In the kitchen, the Endura is a slicing beast! Even so, dedicated kitchen knives like the Spyderco K04 and K05 are even better. ;)

great thanks everyone i'll order the Delica tomorrow lol

The Delica and Endura shine the brightest IN USE ;) Few are underwhelmed when they first get it, make sure you actually use it before you conclude your verdict.

Great slicer, great to carry in pocket, great in hand... While being simple, humble, and priced well

To me I love the size of the delica but the blade thickness of the endura. If they made a delica with the same blade stock as the endura that'd be perfect imo

The lockback is very rugged and secure. It's a simple design that will stay reliable for years, if not forever. There are some quirks associated with them that annoy some and are complete non issues to others. One is that they can have a slight bit of up and down blade play when in the open position. This varies among examples of the same model knife. Some will have no play at all, on others it's noticeable. Personally I own several Spyderco lockbacks (Caly 3.5, Stretch, Salt 1) and I find all of them a delight to use and completely trustworthy. Another quirk is that one handed closing is not as simple and straightforward as some other lock designs. Again, this is not a big deal, practice makes it almost effortless. Lockbacks tend to be very slim and lightweight with a very close handle to blade length ratio, all features I happen to really appreciate in a folding knife.

As for the Delica vs the Endura, that's a very personal call. I have owned both and tend to prefer the Endura, mainly because I spend a lot of time in the kitchen and I find the longer blade more useful for food prep. Personally I am happiest with something sized in between, such as the Stretch 1, which to me is the perfect sized all around EDC. I have done everything from cooking to big game dressing with my Stretch and it never seems to be out of it's element. Whichever knife you choose I would highly recommend you get one with a full flat ground (FFG) blade, the cutting performance is truly amazing.

i remember the upwards play on another knife i own.
only have it for display now because i don't wan't to damage it even more since i can't disassembly and repair it.
i think im going for the delica due to the smaller blade
any way to fix upwards play when i get it?
i usually polish the action in my knives like i did my tenacious and griptilian would that be an issue with the delica ?

I choose the Delica because pocket space is at a premium. If I am wearing something with a tool pocket on the side such as Carhartts I will carry the Endura because it fits perfectly. I have never had an issue with the lock type. Kitchen knives are for kitchen work, pocket knives have no place in a Kitchen preparing food. Opening and breaking down boxes fine, food no.
