Delica or Endura?

Which of the two knives do you prefer? I can't handle them so I need to decide from suggestions. It will be used for edcing in the house, yard and more rural areas. I will be carrying a kershaw storm in more sheeple areas. (eg. mall) I would prefer the endura's blade length but the handle seems a bit large. Is it comfortable to edc? This will be a combo edge. I used to loath serrations until I bought better quality knives and I have grown quite fond of them. (This is going to be my first spyderco too, Im pretty exited)

Thanks.

I prefer Delica sized knives for EDC since that extra bit of blade usually just gets in my way, but the Endura fits my hands while the Delica didn't quite work for me in a four finger grip last time I held one.

I carry a UKPK which has better ergos than the Delica IMO, but if I had to choose between the two I'd take an Endura. They're comfortable in the pocket due to being thin and narrow.

If you are going with CE I agree with Vivi for the Endura. The larger blade will accomodate CE better in my opinion.
The Delica is a great knife. But with CE you only get a little of both. My personal preference would be PE for either as an EDC.

I've EDC'd an Endura for about 2 years now. . . Vivi is right, thanks to the thin, narrow profile, pocket carry is no problem. When you use the words 'yard' and 'rural', I tend to think of larger blades myself. The Endura is very comfortable to me. . .course I have large hands. If the serrations are of paramount importance to you, you may want to see if the Delica's comboedge serrations are shorter in length as well. A little extra 'tooth' on the Endura may come in handy for outside chores. I am unsure of the actual measurements on either, unfortunately. Honestly, I doubt you regret either choice, both are really good knives.

I like the Delica my self, its small but big enough to be usefull and can do most things the Endura can.
If you need the extra blade length or have big hands id get the Endura but the Delica is a great wee knife that will serve you well

My first Spydie was a CE Delica 4, but I ended up trading it for a PE. I like the idea of CE, but on the Delica, the serrations take up half of the blade, leaving only about 1.25" of each edge type. I think CE would work out better on a longer blade.

I love the size/weight/feel of the Delica (FRN)... it fits my hand like it was made just for me. I've only handled the Endura briefly... it was bigger than I cared for, but I could probably get used to it. You might want to check into the Caly 3... full flat grind, G-10 handles... that's probably going to be my next knife!! :D

I couldn't decide either, so I am carrying both. My E4 is a plain edge and my D4 is a combo with a black coated blade. Both are easy to pocket and ride well in the front of my running shorts. I actually like the D4 in the combo edge, I used it the other day to destroy some old fall protection equipment. That combo edge sail through the webbing like butter. My E4 is better suited for larger tasks and self defense, and besides that is the size knife I am used to carrying. Most days I carry 4 knives (if you count my multi) at work and one or two at home depending on my mood. You should be able to buy them both for around $100, see which one you like better. If you are like me then you will end up with both eventually.

I like both, but I feel that the coil for the index and long finger could be a little bigger. I can just barely fit my two fingers there.

I kind of wan't the delica a bit more so that I can edc it any where but most of you guys think the endura will be better in a combo edge so here is my new question, does a combo edge on a delica cut well? My first CE knife was a cheapie so I stayed away from them (serrations) like the plague. When I got the OHT, I loved the serrations. I wouldn't buy serrations from a company other than victorinox but everyone in the spyderco forums (not this one) seems to like serrations better than a PE. If the serrations cut as well as the vics, I would buy a CE in a flash but they look a bit more aggresive (than victorinox) and the serrations on cheapies always snag on whatever you want to cut. I don't know anything about quality serrations so I don't know how the spyderco CEs cut. I don't know whether to risk trying a CE or stick with a familiar PE? I guess the D4 wave is pretty cool.

I have both Enduras and Delicas with combination edges. Right now you are probably thinking it is the best of both worlds. In the Endura, I might agree. If you are worried about carrying such a big knife, don't. With the clip, mine rides right along the edge of the pocket and is unobtrusive. Hope that helps.

Yeah, the serrated portion of the blade on my original CE D4 was VERY sharp... the serrations are basically ground only on one side of the blade, thus the included angle is roughly half of what it is on the plain portion. I liked the serrations on the CE D4, but I didn't like how much of the blade they took up... I felt like there wasn't enough of either of the edge types. I've been thinking about trying to add a half inch worth of serrations (three?) to my PE D4... we'll see.

Both are great knives and no matter which one you'll choose, be sure it will serve you well. Since the only difference between them is in size, simply ask yourself if you want a big knife or a smaller one.

Both are great knives. The delica is an excellent knife, and was my first spydie. I found it to small so I got an endura. It is a big knife, but it's really light and slim, and carries like a small knife. I have never gotten any negative responses from using it in public.

It cuts well. There is no ONE knife that will be BEST for all occasions. But if you are only going to carry one knife and you want to stay under/around 3", then the D4 CE is not really a risk. It is a top contender. An alligator relies on snagging, so it is not the worse thing in the world. Do not leave home without a few teeth. :D

I have more Delicas than Enduras and for EDC you will find a Delica in my pocket most often. If I go hunting anything bigger than a bunny I'll take the Endura CE especially if it's target shooting time in the swamp. The Endura is more of an 'opener' that a true hunting knife so, like so many boys before me I might have a Case Copperlock (basically a 'trapper' with only one blade) or even a Buck 110. I had to stop using the pocket clip on the Spydercos because so many theater or stadium seats kept stripping them from my pocket. (2 black FRN integral clip Delicas since 1993.)

So a CE delica will cut fine? Almost as well as a PE? Can I use the whole length of the blade for slicing or is it either the SE portion or PE portion?

i have a PE delica and love it - i prefer the smaller blade, as if i go from state to state, i can rest assured that a 3 inch blade is legal in most places.

regarding slicing with the serrated part, i've done it before, it works, but of course it doesn't work quite as well as a plain edge.
