Delica....whats going on?

In the past year I have noticed that The Seki models are going downhill in QC. Taichung is still 1st place followed closely by Golden, Colorado manufactured Spydies. 5 years ago I would have told you that Seki models were the stuff.

Maybe Seki has been the same and I've just gotten used to the quality of Taichung and Golden. That's probably more like it.

I only own one Spyderco made in Japan, the recent S/B Stretch sprint. It came in perfect condition and at some point in the future I plan to order the Dragonfly2. Imho the Japanese still have a very strong work ethic that sadly is slowly going by the way side in America.
Like I said I ordered 4 different spyderco knives and they were great, including a dragonfly. All with a month and a half.

Sorry guys. I should have phased my reply differently. No one suggested he was lying and the way I responded was misleading. My bad. I do know how frustrating it is, because of my Caly issues.

I didn't read what you're looking for, but I can highly recommend the Chaparral and the Sage-1.

Its all good.

Strange... I've had several Delicas in and out of my hands (FFG, saber-grind, wave, combo-edge, full-Spyderedge, various handle colors), and they were all very well made. Actually, all the FRN lockbacks (Ladybug, Dragonfly, Delica, Endura, Stretch) I've gotten that originated from the Seki, Japan have been outstanding. Granted, the most recent one of those I got was probably a year or so ago. I recall reading that the Caly knives came from a different shop in Japan. The one sample I have from there (Caly3 CF) is also fantastic.

I've never seen a Spyderco come with the clip set for tip up before unless it was a tip up only knife. Something seems fishy with that.

Maybe Im saying it wrong...but it came as all of them did, closed and in the pocket the tip is up. Am I saying it wrong?

You have it right. Unless something has changed, all my Spydercos that can be carried tip up or tip down all came set for tip down carry.

You know what they say.... Fifth time's the charm !

Just kidding, and sorry to hear about the run of bad luck. Hopefully the fifth one will be just right.
Good luck.

Someone mentiond Moki making these. I know they were making the Caly, but didn't think they made the Delica.
If they do I'm very suprised you got one with a problem.

Ok guys....got her knife in and from what I can tell it looks fine. About frigging time im scared to move the clip to the way she wants.

I believe you. My 1st Caly 3.5 had a 1" portion of the blade that was never ground or sharpened on either side.
You said your first knife was a scaly. Is that short for calypso? Cuz I bought a vintage Calypso and it’s a back lock knife , but it does not lock flush with the spine

Caly 3.5 is a different knife than the Calypso.

Eight year old thread btw
