Delica - Why No Forward Finger Choil?

I never get it when people keep bringing up the question about " why dont you put a choil on the ( insert relevant knife type ) .
Strange as it may seem to those individuals , there are just like me many crazy non choil lovers in the world of knives .
We the crazy ones dont go around deciding that all the knives that have choils should be turned into non choil knives , we just buy , use , collect those non choil knives which we prefer without fuss or bother .

The Dragonfly, Native LW, Squeak, Rescue, Saver, Chapparral LW, Manix LW and UKPK are all FRN with choils.

Also the Stretch, Stretch 2, Urban, and various Byrd models... (speaking of which, have you given a look to the Byrd knives?)

FWIW, with just a little bit of work You could put a choil on Your Delica.

I've done it with a couple of mine. Having done it, and carried/used them now for over a year - I have to say I prefer the Delica, WITHOUT a choil - or - just the way Spyderco makes & sells it, in regards to the lack of choil. Of course that's my own preference & subjective - but perhaps relevant...

u.w.

The Byrd Meadowlark is essentially a Delica with a choil.

The comet opening hole and 8cr steel are the main difference.
I have an older Delica in aus8 and the 8cr is just as good if not better in regards to edge retention.

OP,

Instead of asking for a choil to be added to the Delica especially when there are plenty of others in the same size that have a choil.

It would be easier if you added one instead to
your Delica.

" But " he don't post outside of the USA which leaves a big chunk of the " known world " out of luck :(

PS - I wasn't interested in his Choil version but a more standard set of scales

They used to have a knife called the Spyderco R which was something like a slightly larger Delica with a finger choil.

Also I believe the Bird knives have a 50/50 choil oddly enough.
Wish they still made this one.

"PS - I wasn't interested in his Choil version but a more standard set of scales"

+1 and when I inquired about Delica std scales he replied that they were no longer being made.
I really admire his craftsmanship and designs but will not convert any of my Delica variations to choil.

FK

Leave my Delicas alone, some people don't like choils. Go get a Native, or a Caly Jr, or a Caly 3, or a Caly 3.5, or a Native, or a Manix, or a Manix LW, or a Shaman, or a Dragonfly.....
Agreed. I really don't like the attitude that every model has to be changed for each person's selfish expectations. There are so many similar spec models with whatever you're looking for.

Or you pay extra to mod your knife how you please.
