I can't decide which is a better way to go Delica ZDP or Salt I? I have been wanting to get into a ZDP knife but the more I read about H1 intrigues me. Anybody have both that can offer an opinion? Thanks.

Salt 1 is "old" Delica3 handle which is shorter than the zdp Delica4's handle but only has 2 clip positions (tipup only)which I actually prefer to the zdp's handle....there are no liners in the Salt1's FRN, the D4 has skeletonized liners.... the zdp D4 weighs more but has 4 way clip possibilities...imo H-1 is great for lazy folks like myself while the ZDP seems to take on a "bronze" patina w/ time.... really 2 very different knives for you to sample... the Salt has more usable edge length than the Delica4 too....good luck :)

Totally different animals. really depends on what you are looking for in a user. OTOH, if you just want it for a collection then just get whatever appeals to you.

If your going to use a knife in wet conditions then get the salt otherwise just make sure u keep your delica clean and dry after using it and you wont have any thing to worry about

I've had the Salt I for awhile. Used it all last summer for everything from harvesting vegetables in the garden to riding fulltime in my fishing vest. Mine is a PE yellow handle. I never had a problem with rusting or discoloring it sharpened...okay, but it kept a pretty decent edge. My only gripe was that the H1 seemed to scratch a little easier than say...VG10, and didn't take an edge as easily as say...S30V ...for me.

I just got the ZDP Delica this week. What a sweet little knife. It came with scariest sharpest factory edge I've ever had on a Spyderco. I haven't had the need to resharpen the ZDP yet.

Weight favors the lighter Salt just a touch
I like the clip design better on the Delica...for comfort. I give kudos to the Salt's clip in being heavy duty, easily removed and cleaned etc.

I plan on rotating both of them through my EDC, if anything I'd be inclined to use the Salt more.

So I guess that's my answer...they are both designed to be used, I'd be less apprehensive in using the Salt based upon price point and the H1.

But that Delica is sweet.

i have a Cally with ZDP and a salt 1 with H1. I personally favor the Cally for edc because of its crazy sharp edge and good looks. However when i go out fishing the salt 1 all the way it wont rust and has a great edge. Either way your going to have a great knife but if you are around water a lot then H1 is the best choice. Otherwise ZDP is unbelievable

I would go with the delica zdp if your not around water.
salt H1 if you are around the wet stuff.Maybe you are around both
so buy both to be safe.
