Delica ZDP Pricing on eBay

I put one of my 2 up for sale. I set no reserve and started it at a penny. The market will gouge itself. No one is holding a gun to their heads.

I actually got mine in a brick and mortar knife store, for LESS than $80. I am carrying and using it. Would I have carried it had I given $200? Tough question, since I would not have paid that for a Delica. I have carried other knives that I did pay that for, and used them hard. I had given up on getting in on this sprint run when I saw the prices people were paying on the Bay. Then I happened on an HONEST dealer who still had some in stock. So I now get to try ZDP189 without a second mortgage :D So far, I have to say it IS worth what I gave, but as a KNIFE, not an investment, I don't think it is worth what they are going for.

I still don't know what happened to me whether good or bad on this form that allows trading i can talk about it a little little less guilt. I was just browsing my local knife shop, when I saw a zbt 189 delica $99.97 bought it and now not sure what to do with it. I don't have a papal account I have a bunch of users the and it seems kind of silly to put use on something that is such a premium right now. Anyway I to should I trade for something else in the three-inch range what do you think might be a viable trade, things I'm considering trying to get a kopa a nice slightly used Microteh Emerson or a good deal on upscale spyderco i like using knives and carrying different ones. Would you think you should just keep this one and use it how I can ergonomics and the steels both have a good cutting ability possibly more so with a rough edge don't cringe but I'm not a incredible sharpener so once the knife wears down a tiny bit I tend to use a diamond rod where the edge of a ceramic sharpening stone to create a slightly rough edge that to me cuts very well it won't shave but for my uses it works great. Sorry if this hijacking threat:o

Well, ya'll can count on me to not make it any more difficult for you to find your ZDP Delicas. :p I won't be paying those kinds of prices.

If you want to, that's your free choice. People have already cited how some have been burned by this silly furor (the guy who bid $200 for something with a BuyItNow of $169). Hey, that's what happens when a person gets starry eyes about something so bad that he loses his judgment and perspective.

When I look at some of the first sales of ZDP knives on ebay I have wondered if they are not manufactured sales to drive up the price. I can't see an FRN knive with 1200 in the supply line, with more colors to come, selling for over $100 and over $200 is nuts.

As for ZDP being worth it... for the money you can keep three or four VG-10 knives handy and just switch when they lose their edge.

Hmmm, that's a good point, I suppose.

This Delica 4 has steel liners covered by FRN so it isn't the average FRN folder like all its predecessors in that regard and in the ZDP189 blade steel. The Delica is hands down the best selling Spyderco knife out there so it doesn't surprise me at all that there is a ground swell of interest in it that seems accelerated compared to the last ZDP offering from Spyderco.

Gouging, from what I've heard, is when sellers take advantage of a situation - charging outrageously high prices for goods or services that people need. Like gasoline, electricity, bottled drinking water in a drought area, etc.

ZDP189 Delicas don't fall into that category.

No one's ethically or morally required to give away their ZDP 189 Delicas for less than market price, as far as I'm concerned.

EXACTLY!! VERY WELL PUT !!

An auction ended today for the ZDP Delica and it wound up at around $157 bucks and change. Figure it almost 165 with shipping and we are almost up to the $169 I asked about in my original post. I guess that wasn't too far off of what _SOME_ people are willing to pay.

Hooray for disposable income!
