Delta Belt/disc ?

Yes, its a great machine for the cost. I checked around and found the tables on it have a wide range of adjustments compared to anything else in its price class. I love the strip sander and use it daily. Buy it!

ps the 8" discs are abit harder to find than the 6" but last longer too.

That should be a good start. I started on a 4"x36" grinder and I was able to make a few good knives.

Once you decide you like knifemaking and upgrade your grinder, the Delta will still have a home in your shop.

Maybe I should say that I dont grind blades on it but I use it for many other things.

for flat grinding it sucks , the platen flexes way too much. Make a stiffer platen from some angle iron and you should be good if you limit your steel thickness.

grinding knives from thick ( over 5/32 ) steel it goes thru belts like Rosie Odonell thru a case of twinkies ;)

a 1 inch belt comes in handy. i have my coote now but still use the 1" for some sharpening, lots of handlework, and on neckers.

Thanks for the replies.
Monday i think i,ll go to the shop and get it.
If any one has any other hints or tips on it lemme know. Thanks agian

i own one and it works great for handle work, i have not used it for blades but for a couple times and fouund that part difficult( lack of skill i guess) i paid $129.00----$50.00 get it for sure

This is a good grinder for the cost, but I wouldn't go grinding blades on it, you'll spend more than 50 dollars on belts alone. They wear out pretty quick. But for handlework and fittings and such; a good tool for cheap!
