I have been using a magnet to grind the flats, and the knives have been getting slightly magnetized. How do you get rid of this? Where can I get an old vcr or tape eraser? Would that work?

Thanks in advance.

I've got a little non-electric handheld demagnetizer made by Wihaw... I haven't been able to get it to work at all. I'd say skip purchasing that thing.
I believe the electric demagnetizers work but they are expensive. MSC Direct has them but you might be better off trying to find a used one at a more resonable price.

I second what Bill said. I have this ENCO Demagnetizer and it works great for blades, files, etc.
If you get one, do not leave it running after use. They'll burn themselves out.

I'm going to get one of those Enco demagnetizers. Thanks for the link.
