Demko Hawk in Afghanistan

Thx for the photos of the leather. It looks great

Why would you prefer a kydex scabbard over he leather one ?

on top of being more adaptable to MOLLE systems, Kydex won't rot or retain chemicals like leather (depending on the climate) and can be molded thinner and stiffer than leather. As well i believe (in the U.S. at least, you can no longer have leather sheiths for jump operations) for some reason. that being the case, leather has it's advantages as well, as its doesn't scratch your blade all to shit like Kydex will if not lined, and i find leather more comfortable in most set ups.

Yeah, that pretty much sums up what I was talking about. For my main knives i usually have two sheaths, leather and kydex, for that very reason.

I did a little chop test on a 2x4. This thing has some bite to it. My buddy and I are talking about putting a test together. Not a destruction test but a few chores that a tactical hawk could be called on to preform. Pop tires, breaching doors, maybe vehicle egress but i am on the edge with that one since it would cause damage to the hawk and lastly we are trying to get some spair plates and helmets. I am putting my money on the hawk spike punching right through a helmet.

Glad to see you're still doing well out there. If you happen to go by Kabul, do me a favor and flip it the bird for me! :P

Very nice donation from Demko for sure..Great looking hawk and sheath...Thanks for posting...also
Thanks for your service and All the Best to you !

Hey, awesome hawk! I'm sure it serves you well over there! Just a questions, though: What's that knife shown in the above picture? It looks familiar to me, but I just can't remember what brand or model it is.

Stay safe!

Best Regards

Appears to be a Busse NMSFNO. Nice kit. What unit let's you have the hair?

The civilian contractor unit. I was in the Army for 8 years then started working contract security in 2008. Been doing it ever since. Yeah, that is a Busse NMSFNO.
