It's funny you mention the costs. I was thinking about that, in regards to milled-out "lightening" pockets on many manufacturers' scales.
Demko charges the same amount for smooth vs textured Ti, for the various AD20 models. For what it's worth, so too does Hinderer.
One would think that a textured Ti scale has to take more time to make than a smooth. But then again, maybe the smooth ones require more time for surface prep, whereas, the textured ones take less, because the entire front surface will be milled out?
Also, it's possible that the residual Ti shavings balance out the cost of the extra time, in the form of recycled value?
