Good evening everyone. I travel frequently for work - hotels, restaurants, airplane flights... But my family "never gets to go anywhere," so I'm taking them on a mini-vacation to the big city. It'll be a treat for them, and a good chance for the boy to do something different and educational.

My problem, I haven't been to Denver much. Can you guys help out with some restaurant and sight-seeing advice?

Specifically: I'd love some Thai food and Wife wants Indian. So what are the best/most authentic Thai and Indian restaurants in Denver? Extra points if they are near the Aquarium, the Museum of Nature and Science, or in the SW area of Denver (Littleton, Columbine area).

Are there any "not to miss" pizza or BBQ restaurants?

Our hotel is out away from downtown, the Littleton Hampton Inn, which is off of 470 near Chatfield Lake. Of all the parks in that area, what is the best to visit for a two hour hike? Interesting terrain, historic sites, fewest people, best scenery?

The Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden has a "Galloping Goose" train ride on Saturday. Any comments?

One of the famous "Big Boy" train locomotives is supposed to be housed at the Forney Transportation Museum. Is the museum too 'dry' for a five-year-old boy to enjoy? How long would it take to go through the museum?

You may want to take your son to Casa Bonita. The food is okay, but the atmosphere is quite exciting for kids. It's like a Mexican Village at night, with buildings, walk-ways, bridges, pools, caves, cliff-diving, and the like. I never remember the food, but the other stuff is a load of fun, and my kids still talk about it, years after. There's Mariachi bands, plays, face-painting, balloons, etc. You can get away with spending a relatively little amount of $$$.

Bob... trust me on this one: Buckhorn Exchange. One of, if not THE oldest restaurant in Denver. Very good food, amazing ambiance, interesting history. I will be heading to Denver for business in a couple of weeks, and I intend to get there.
