Deodorizing a Knife

As long as the knife is a stainless model,........you might douse it a bit with buck urine.

..........who knows,......you might even meet up with a new "friend" in the woods. :D

Something that I've never really tried on knives but works wonders on removing stains and odors elsewhere are denture tablets. Just Google them to find a 101 uses. If the knife has a wooden handle I'm not sure how it might react but to metal it should be fine. It mostly leaves an odorless scent (at least to us nose dead humans) :)

Good luck,
Bill

a bit late to respond to this, but...

no clue as to how accurate this info is, but i heard someplace that when setting survival snares for game, you should smoke them to mask the human odor...

i cant remember for certain where i heard this, i think it may have been a lower-level military survival instructor, and from my experience with military instructors, they tend to have a lot of untested, questionable advice. somes good, some isnt so good...

one of the things that causes me to question it is if your in a survival situation, you arent going to be stinkin of civilization so much, which seems to be what you want to avoid, according to general knowledge/advice.

also heard someplace else that smoke has chemicals (i want to say formaldehydes and such, but cant verify, or even remember where i heard it...) that have anti microbial and deodorant properties (aside from the smoke scent, im assuming...).
I believe i read that in a book/article talking about braintanning and smoking deerskins for clothing, but i cant remember for sure...

but, id imagine your knife odor would be miniscule compared to yourself and your clothing. *shrugs*

good luck
