Depressing eBay problem

Because my old password is no good, my objective was to get a new password.

Several promises to send mr one ended last night with the claim that Yahoo mail blocks emails from eBay sending new passwords.

Will ebay allow you to change to another email service?

Can you get an email forwarding service to send your yahoo email to an email that can receive the password?

There MUST be some answer here.

Sounds like time for a registered letter, return reciept guaranteed. Get someone on paper, then hold them accountable. Can you get names of executives? General Counsel, Comptroller, someone like that.

Sorry for the grief, man.

(Edit: Old saying: "When dealing with a bureaucracy, make YOUR problem, THEIR problem.")

If I could access my account, I could change my email foe eBay purposes.

If the email is blocked by Yahoo, it does not reach Yahoo to be forwardable.

I will try asking "Love Chat" to make the change.

One of the folks in eBay Account Security who promised a temporary password (that did not arrive) replied to an email I sent asking why the promises were not being kept.

The reply was by email.

The reply? She advises me to contact eBay Account Security.

Now I know what it feels like as a pinball in a pinball machine !

Ding ding ding ding....

Based on what you've said, I don't think you've been phished.

But I sure won't guarantee it. My spidey sense is tingling.

Just in case, keep a close eye on any credit card or bank account you've got tied to your ebay account. Use on-line inquiry if available, to avoid waiting for a statement in the mail.

Another email today from eBay Account Security. The email says I should contact Account Security "Live Help" and gives specific steps to take -- that get you to a screen that says "We are currently experiencing higher volumes than normal and a longer wait time is expected."

First time I gave up after twenty minutes.

Next time I gave up after thirty minutes.

Next time I gave up after fifty minutes.

"Normal"?

High levels of effort to push me somewhere else rather than fixing the problem.

If competition comes along, eBay is doomed.

It
just
gets
better
and
better.

CHAPTER 14
EBay "Live Chat" NOW claims that Yahoo, unintentionally to be sure, has cut off all Yahoo Mail customers from receiving emails from eBay.

When I pointed out that not a day has gone by in the two weeks of my exile without my RECEIVING multiple emails from eBay, she just moved on to another topic.

She wanted to "help." I need, she says, to add eBay to my address book. When I pointed out that Yahoo Mail has no feature to block all emails EXCEPT from listed addressess -- that the avaiable feature is to list adresses to BE BLOCKED, she just repeated that I could solve the problem by adding eBay to my address book. So I added eBay to my address book. That will help next time I SEND and email to eBay.

I have reported this mess to Yahoo. They said it was news to them but I should get a copy of the Failed Delivery notice from eBay and send it to them. EBay, of course, says they "can't" do that. Gee, what a surprise.

CHAPTER 14B
I received an email from eBay Account Security (you know, from that company whose emails to me are blocked).

They say they understand my frustration and they want to help. Help? Their "help" is to direct me to the Black Hole Site. That's where complaints go to die: Account Security "Live Help."

Whenever you go there, you get a message that, due to "higher volumes than normal" there will be "a longer wait than expected." I have waited anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour (an hour tonight) with no response at this site. Not even mood music. Just the same screen with red text claiming "higher volume than normal."

So ladies and gents, I give you Honest Politicians and eBay "Customer Service" -- one about as true as the other.

DAY 15

Email from "Sebastian" at eBay Account Security -- enclosing a temporary password.

This email arrived in my Yahoo Mail account that eBay twice said was "blocked" from receipt of eBay emails. (Yahoo does not think it's amusing that eBay blamed them.)

So it took fifteen days to find an employee at eBay who could be bothered to do the necessary -- rather that engage in disingenuous ploys or lie outright.

Few would have kept at it the way I did. I contacted eBay 31 times, and started copying eBay high-lever managers and officers on my emails.

So I give eBay a big BF :barf: :barf: :barf: :barf:

I except "Sebastian," to whom I expressed my sincere thanks.

Congratulations.

You persevered. You have "perseverence."

Disregard all suggestions that you are bull-headed.:D

CONGRATULATIONS!

Can you give eBay(except for Sebastian) negative feedback?

I have done so on their forum -- and here!! :D

("Bull-headed" -- is that like stubborn? :D )

I really appreciate the sentiment, Brian, but as noted above, after two weeks someone at eBay finally stopped making excuses and giving me the brushoff and sent a password. I'm back in.

My contact in nigeria has sent me the 10 million dollars he promised me for getting his 23rd cousin's uncle's neighbor's mother's son-in-law's 200 million out of the country. unfortunatly it is now in a british bank here and i cannot transfer it it to the states due to certain unforseen circumstances. if y'all send me your bank account and credit card details, i'll use them to transfer the money to your account and i'll fly over immediatley to collect the money, i will give you a 10% commission fee for the service, can't beat that can you, 1 million for next to no effort. i may have to insist on a small up-front honour payment from your end to pay some of the initial transfer fees....:D

p.s. - i accept paypal
