Hello,
I'm making a Togakure-Ryu Katana for training purposes (no cutting edge) and have a question regarding Hamachi, Munemachi and hardness. But at first some details.
Nagako (tang): 13"
Nagasa (bladelength): 23"
Motokasane (thickness at Habaki): 1/4"
Motohaba (width at Habaki): 1.25"
Sori (curvature): 1/2"
Resulting Edge thickness: 1.5mm (0.06")
Steel: 80CRV2
What depth of Hamachi and Munemachi would you recommend for training purposes and contact fighting? I am aiming for 2mm (0,08") Munemachi and 3mm (0,12") Hamachi and a hardness of 55 HRC. Are those good Numbers or would you recommend something different?
