I let mine go a couple of years ago, then got the chance to get the one above just recently, and cheap!
I sold my ZT Satin Jack for a bunch of money, and decided this one was just as good (a little better handle but a little less corrosion resistance = a wash.) About a 3-4 hundred dollar price difference makes the DJ the winner and keeper
Looking to skin a whitetail with it in the next week or so
Taking another opportunity to thank you again Eli !!!
Old pics, but what I have on file for now (stripped, but not satin):
I agree with Eli. I think the Desert Jack is a WAY better value than the VERY highly sought after Satin Jack.
INFI is still the king, but consider application. INFI makes for a better pry-bar with great edge qualities. SR-101 (IMO) has about equal edge qualities and while not as tough as INFI is VERY tough. As Eli said, for a knife like this, the only real compromise is corrosion resistance. SR-101 is more prone to rust and takes some more maintenance. But, if you "know" it requires a little bit of maintenance, then keep it oiled or waxed and be good with it.
I think the Desert Jack has a nicer shape than the Satin Jack, plus the Desert Jack has a functional choil and no Talon Hole - which I consider "Better" on smaller knives - including the Deset Jack.

....... plus, I think the temper line does something for me....
If I had to pick between the Desert Jack and the Satin Jack for a user I would probably have to pick the Desert Jack. You get a lot of blade for the weight and it feels great in the hand. Those old school finger-nub handles were the bomb.
