This is the first knife I've made since I set up shop after moving. I'm trying some techniques I haven't done before (I suppose that's not saying much, I've only made a handful of knives) like putting a bevel on the bolsters / scale and peening the rivets. Any thoughts, comments, or critiques?

The blade steel is O-1 Tool steel with 416 stainless bolsters and pins and maple burl scales.

I'm not really into Tantos, but that one has nice grinds, and I really love the handle:).

I don't really care for the look of the knife, however that's just personnel opinion. The important thing is that you
demonstrate skills, especially for someone who has only made a handful of knives. I would suggest you keep at it
and continue sharing your work here.

Hey Kevin, thanks for the input. Is there anything in particular that draws you away from the knife, or do you just prefer a different style? I'm open to constructive criticism, especially in a sense of design. I can make things that I like all day long, but I like to hear what other people might change or do differently.

Dan, it's the blade that I don't care for. The handle could be quite appealing to me as part of a different overall design.
But just my opinion.

Dan - good to see that you're still at it. The blade design is a little off-beat - kind of modern interpretation of a tanto - but then again, the knife world is quite full of Sendero and Loveless drop point lookalikes. From what I can see in the photos, the workmanship looks good. Nothing wrong with trying a bunch of different designs while improving your skill set, IMO.

The handle is very nice - I coule see it working with a Persian-style upswept blade quite well.

Hey Roger, nice to hear from you! I'm still working to develop my own style. I'm quite fond of this particular handle design so far. It seems like it will have quite a bit of versatility.

Caleb! Nice blade, bro.

Interesting combo of traditional handle and no-so-traditional blade shape. Still flows pretty well, and fit and finish look superb. Good to see you're up and running at the new place - update your profile, cuz you ain't in Rochester anymore! ; )

Layout of the maple burl is spot-on. Gives the knife some motion for the eye while it's sitting still.
