My perfect knife doesn't exist, but if it did it would have:

Blade: 3.5", S90V (why not?), plain edge, hollow or flat grind (not sure yet), satin finish
Handle: titanium with very thin replaceable scales on both sides, scales available in a variety of materials (G10, Mammoth ivory, micarta, titanium), scales set in with bezel all around, no sharp edges, no carry clip, length as close to 3.5" as possible
Lock: long throw linerlock same thickness as the blade (essentially a framelock)
Opening: no thumbstud or hole or wave or groove or equivalent, inertia open, pivot tightness similar to a Benchmade, bias towards closed

...and it goes without saying it should cost $20. :)

What's yours?

I'll play...

I wish for a knife by Spyderco(you listening, Mr. Glesser?:D) that has the Para handle size and shape but a ti frame-lock with Hinderer lock on one side(like a SNG and some new G-10 texture design for the other scale in multiple color offerings. Deep carry clip with the 4-way option.

The blade would be D2 with the Para's shape and grind but slight thicker at the spine and a little longer overall.

Basically if an Strider SNG and a Spyderco Para had a big baby it'd be my dream knife.

Light saber with adjustable length blade...lol.

Actually AG Russell has come very close with his 2008 Ranger Commemorative knife. I carry it more often than any other knife.

1. Traditional looks with a nail nick that is large and deep enough to open like a Spyderco thumbhole
2. Large blade with enough belly for serious cutting, slight recurve really helps with long cuts.
3. Back lock which is strong enough for anything I'll use a knife for.
4. Great steel in the blade (9Cr18Mov).
5. People friendly.
6. Lanyard hole.
7. Blade length 3 1/4", 7 1/2" overall.

Boker Trance with the following build:

Titanium frame lock, bead blasted. No holes in it (see a Trance for this). Use the Hinderer lock stop. Jimp the lock.
Nylon bushing.
Phosphor bronze bushing.
Blade, same size and dimensions, but made of satin-finished VG-10.
Phosphor bronze bushing.
Nylon bushing.
Titanium liner, bead blasted.
G-10 scale in royal blue. Checker it same as the Kershaw Scamp.
Lined lanyard hole.
Pocket clip should be adjustable for 4-way carry and be bead-blasted titanium.
Open back design. Use hourglass pillars and a thick blade stop pin.
Entire knife should be Torx construction for ease of maintenance.

I like your thinking, Ive made some changes to my own preferences though :D

But to me my perfect knife already exists; the emerson hd-7. too bad they are so damn hard to find.

A Sebenza 21 with an opening hole that has copper lining like the composite blades by Kershaw, a ball-lock for ambidexterity, perhaps a Spyderco style better finger choil, and... that's about it.

My knife would have 154cm or S30V with a full flat grind, around 3.5" titanium framelock with the hinderer lock stop. similar blade shape to the police 3 model.

For an EDC folder this is perfection for me (Mosier Take Down flipper) For a fixed, I'm in the process of building it myself now

Emerson Commander , zero grind, CPM m4 steel, Axis Lock, carbon fiber scales, perfect fit & finish..

Manix2 with FFG S30V or ZDP-189 blade with black G10 and skeletonized Ti liners to make it lighter. Also make a non grippy part of the G10 where the pocket clip would bend down. So it won't tear up my pants. Wave would be cool too.

CRK Umnumzan, but a titanium compression framelock, black g-10 on on side with skelotonized titanium liner. S90V blade, Full flat grind or very high saber grind. Spyderhole opening.

Spyderco titanium Sage with no choil and the blade lengthened to 3.5 would be my ideal knife.

Spyderco Military:D

I got MY wish....

Okay, seriously? For a folder I'd like micarta grips, CPM M4 blade with a full convex grind (thin!) and rounded spine, except with a flat section. Lock would be a Axis style or RIL.

Blade shape? Something like Spyderco's leaf shape on the Manix 2, and with a really thin edge.

Handle? Anything that's comfortable.

Spyderco Calypso Jr blade shape, with a saber grind and H1 steel, slipjoint with a deeper finger choil, lime green FRN.
