Design your perfect knife

Fixed blade version of the Swamp Rat Knife Works Rat Trap, but with a slightly thicker blade.

A Lg Sebenza 21 with a better thumbstud that also enables you to quickly open it, a clip without the little lip on it, and with the blade style of the Regular Sebenzas:eek:

I've thought about two

Fat Man and Little Boy

Little boy specs, same length as Mission MPF 3, but take the handles and thicken them to 1/4 inch, thicken blade to 1/4 at spine and keep full flat or v grind, do away with the recessed pocket clip and mount it flush to the surface of the handle with two small screws, make the spacer plate an integral part of one of the handle slabs plus keep the screw slots for added strength. Increase the height or depth of the knife to same or slightly more than that of the Mission MPF 1, make the size of the portion of the handle that bends for the lock a 1/8 of inch in thickness which is slightly thicker than current, and last but not least make the entire knife out of Beta C ti not just the blade but the whole honkin thing. Lastly straighten out the top/spine of the blade for a little more belly in the blade and lengthen just slightly the length of handle material between the cut for the lock and the top of the handle so there is a little more metal up there to make the weakest point of a folder just a little stronger.

Fatman specs, almost an exact copy of the Microtech Option II, except with 1/8 inch thick handles, and blade, full flat or v grind, make the lock line straight just like the Mission MPF series and again make the whole knife out of BETA C TI, handles, blades, screws, pins, everything. On this knife too just a little more length added to the distance between the top or end of the handle and where the cut for the lock starts, and while were at it for a little added overall protection.

That would be my two. Never happen but nice to dream.

Mine would be:
Blade: 3.5", S110V, or as long as we are dreaming INFI, plain edge, reverse tanto, satin finish
Handle: G10 with partial steel liners
Lock: axis, or caged ball lock
Opening: thumbstuds
IKBS

Handle:
- Single titanium frame lock like Strider/Hinderer, but covered with a G10 scale.
- The other side of the handle is nothing but G10.
- Black color scales.
- Phosporus bronze washers
- Sealed pivot area like ZT 500
- Open construction
- Standard Torx screws
- Low rider belt clip (makes the handle fully concealed) attachable to all 4 corners

Blade:
- Made of CPM S110V hardened to 63 HRC
- Flipper mechanism
- Tanto shape, but with a slightly bellied primary cutting edge.
- Full flat ground
- Just under 3" length
- Black DLC coating

Overall:
- Folder (not fixed)
- Weight close to 3 oz or under
- Open length close to 7" or under
- Simple understated design, nothing outrageous or Rambo-ish

Hey, I'll take a shot at if ya don't mind me designing my dream slipjoint..

Style:A 3 blade Norfolk lockback whittler with the 2 small blades being a spey and coping blade. Filework on springs and blades of course.
Steel: zpd-189 so I can carve hardwoods with no fear of quick dulling.
Handle: Cancun blue g-10 attached with mosaic pins.
Liners: coined titanium liners annodized blue.
Bolsters: Threaded nickel-silver.

A beautiful update to a classic knife. And nigh indestructible. Perfect for everyday tasks and carving anything. I bet I could carve a block of marble with that one! *sigh* If only it wasn't a dream..

flat ground, distal-tapered 5160 coffin handle "horseagator"-style bowie with curly koa handles and brass guard and pommel with a 7.5" blade.

I've thought about this one a lot. It's gotta be a S90V Military blade with just a slight thumb ramp and a Thumb Stud instead of an opening hole, with good jimping. It would have an Axis Lock, and peel-ply Carbon Fiber like on the Stretch.

Blade length 4.5 -5 inches flat ground S110-V steel patterned like the old Gerber Sportsman line. Triad lock or a classic Lockback with Blued steel handles. Stag scales.
