I'm sure this must have been done before, but a quick search doesn't find it, so let's do it again.
There are some very good knife designers out there, some have come up with several, or even dozens of really great designs.
I'm not interested in the list of their great designs. I'm interested in which one you think is the BEST. Best, meaning the one that the pinnacle, the crowning achievement of the designer's career. The one where if a knifeknewb came to you and said, "hey, knifeknut, what is Ethan Becker's greatest design ever?" it would be the knife you'd show him.

I'll start the list with:
Ethan Becker
Allan Elishewitz
Andrew Demko
Sal Glesser
Eric Glesser
Ken Onion
Mel Pardue
Warren Osbourne
Bob Lum

There are plenty of others, and feel free to throw in any designers you want, but remember you only get to pick ONE knife per designer to be the crowning glory of his accomplishment.

I second Bob Terzuola ATCF and honestly he tops the list.

Next would be Chris Reeve with the Sebenza.

And then Emerson with the CQC-9

And Rick Hinderer with the XM-18

Emerson and the CQC-7 comes immediately to mind (despite there being multiple other Emersons I like far more).

Warren O would have to be the 94x series.
Sinkevitch would be the 454.
E Glesser I think Manix.
S Glesser Millie.

I'm a big fan of Matt Diskin's designs. He's responsible for the Diskin hunter (duh!) and the Strobe from Kershaw.

I've lusted after his Volcan and Fire designs for years now. Sadly, neither have found their way into my hands.

I would say some of Ethan Becker's best work is evident in what's known as the "tweeners" (the BK-15/16/17) especially the BK-16, which is one of my personal favorites and if I recall correctly, a personal favorite of Ethan himself

If I weren't biased towards Kukris I'd vote for Ethan Becker's BK5 and 15. But since I'm biased I have to go with his BK21:-p

I've been avoiding posting because, as the OP I didn't want to answer my own question, but it hasn't gotten as much traction as I thought. So let me run through some of my own list of designers and see what I would answer. Not all the ones above, as some I just don't know well enough to weigh in.

E. Becker- BK9.
Allan Elishewitz- Benchmade 690. I know there were more popular blades, but damn if that's not one sexy gentleman's EDC.
Sal Glesser- PM2. No question.
Eric Glesser- Manix 2.
Ken Onion- Kershaw Leek
Mel Pardue- Gotta be the BM Grip.

Ok, BFCers, weigh in.
