Have a couple of designs in mind for the Busse & Kin knives.

Working on a leather sheath design with a belt loop and lashing eyelets to attach to molle.

A) What size belt do you mostly use ? Would like to keep the belt loop as small a possible to stop upward movement when removing the knife.

B) Does the idea of a leather sheath with both a belt loop and lashing eyelets appeal to you ?

C) Does black leather or tan leather appeal to you more ?

We do have a coating for the inside unfinished leather in the sheath to stop any moisture transfer to the knife blade.

Appreciate the input.

Thank You

Hello, Azula Gun Holsters. On your questions:

A- I mostly wear 1 1/2" wide belts, though I have some narrower and some wider.

B- Yes. Very much so. Bonus points if there's a dangler option or conversion for larger knife sheaths.

C- I personally prefer tan leather over black.

Also, I believe that in order to sell on here you'll need a different membership level. Looking forward to seeing your designs.

I'm pretty eager to see what you can do with knives - those pistol holsters look great IMO. Love the looks of both the tan and the black.

That said, this is probably exactly the type of question that would require a knife maker/craftsman/service provider membership. Do it, upgrade and sell me some sheaths. :D

Thank You, just paid the upgrade fee for craftsman with Paypal but it did not seem to change the Status. Is there another link to change the Status ?

Excellent! Can't wait to see more of your work.

To display the new group, go to Settings > Permission groups. There you can select to display as your new level. That said, it used to be that a paypal upgrade needed Spark to manually approve your payment. If the service provider group isn't available to you in Settings, then make a post in the tech support area with your paypal transaction number.

We have found that 1 1/2" belt is the most popular. We changed our 2 slot belt holster from a 1.75" belt slot to a 1.5" belt slot as most people wore a 1.5" belt and the 1.75" belt slot in the holster allowed the holster to move up on the belt when drawing the pistol. This is why we are concerned with the belt slot size for the Sheath.

Our Tan belts are more popular than our black belts but it is an even split between black and tan holsters.

At what blade length would you want a dangler option ? What is the advantage of the dangler ? Does the knife not flop around on your belt with the dangler ?

OK I will try and help as much as possible. Answers next to your question. Nice looking work by the way.

A) What size belt do you mostly use ? Would like to keep the belt loop as small a possible to stop upward movement when removing the knife. 1.5 seems to be the most popular with myself the local police and military I am accustomed to. So for a knife sheath, keep it to fit issue equipment or department equipment.

B) Does the idea of a leather sheath with both a belt loop and lashing eyelets appeal to you ? I like to have the option but typically will purchase a holster for a certain carry and keep it that way. Sometimes a hybrid holster is not the best of either but somewhere in the middle. In some cases you need the best available in the carry style you prefer or are required to use.

C) Does black leather or tan leather appeal to you more ? I prefer tan but some departments require black. Tan for plain clothes and black for uniform.

We do have a coating for the inside unfinished leather in the sheath to stop any moisture transfer to the knife blade. I would like that as long as it does not tarnish the blades. I know though never to store blades in a leather sheath. The chemicals that process the leather can cause issues with the blades over time and with the right moisture conditions.

Appreciate the input.

Thank You

In regard to larger knives, is there more interest to carry the knife on your belt or lash it to a pack ?

I prefer to keep my waist free and use a pack when in the woods/wilderness. This is my primary reason to have lashing eyelets on the sheath. We are also working on a chest rig for larger revolvers and wonder if there would be any interest in a horizontal chest carry sheath for the larger knives ? It makes it a whole lot easier to move through brush and have instant access.

Yes I agree with you there. Larger blades lashed to the pack. On a rare instance I might wear it on my belt, but that is the rare instance. I saw one horizontal carry sheath shown for the WTF. I really like the idea and set up. That could easily be used with a pack too.

My suggestion would be to make them normally for 1.5 belts, but plan on a 1.75 option.

I like wider belts myself, as it seems to spread the weight out better

Hey Azula. I tie/strap a dangler down on my leg like a drop leg holster would be to avoid the flop. For the most part, if I'm carrying a knife on my belt I'm probably hunting, which for me is spot and stalk in open country, usually not wearing a pack during a stalk. High riding sheaths can let the handle repeatedly jab you in the ribs if you're doing a crawl to close distance for a shot, and it doesn't take much blade length in a lower riding fairly rigid sheath to get a similar result hitting the seat getting into a vehicle or the ground if I sit to use an available rest. On length, for me personally it's any knife long enough to hit something when I sit down quickly and jab me with the pommel in a lower riding sheath, but still small enough to not be uncomfortable to carry on a belt. In other words, completely subjective.

I would guess that an optional and removable dangler attachment could be designed to attach to the lashing holes that are already a planned part of your sheath design, and be available at an additional cost to those of us who like them.

Hope this helps.

They are made here in Aus by fellow forum member elof_alv (Cesar) and yes they take 550 cord nicely. He does do nice work, many have seen the inlay jobs he has done and I think the movie with his work (and a thumping big Busse) is out soon.

Cane Toad..

Hog...

If you search up Rob Stanley's posts on the movie "Boar" you can see the work he (and Busse and Rob) did for the movie.

I would like to see a holster like this for blades, with the leather belt look built in and riding flat. I have been wanting something like this for some time. These kinds of gun holsters literally disappear on your belt. The slotted belt flaps would have to be flexible enough to be able to reverse the mounting position. left or right. And the leather sheath part should be designed such that the knife can be inserted mirror imaged. That would be very versatile.

Yes we could do a 2 slot knife holster. We are currently working on our 2 slot magazine holder and the knife 2 slot holster would be similar. Could work for blades up to 6 or 7", or the handle will ride up too high and it will be difficult to unsheathe. Will need to have a forward cant and will have to be either right hand or left hand.
Would have a full comfort shield on the backside of the handle to stop it from rubbing against you.

Still also want to build a sheath that fits both a belt and lashing eyelets. May just build both styles.

Thank You
