Love the top sheath. Looks like pouches for altoids tin, sharpening stone and firesteel unless I'm seeing wrong. I've never seen that layout before. Looks like all the emergency stuff you'd need but still low profile enough not to be "snaggy".
 
Yep it is exactly as you observe mate. That drop loop will also fit the black sheath. In addition it has an ESEE AH-1 tucked in the back ...

 
If you are going to go with a pack mount option, have you considered MOLLE? It's been done with leather and is a very popular option on leather.

I mostly wear western or military belts.

As far as color, I'm not partial to any leather that has a shiny or waxy looking finish.
