Designing the perfect kukri

I do have both, and in the same 20" size class.

The thing you need to know is the Super CAK really isn't a CAK per se. I consider it a Chiruwa Dui Chirra Bhojpur kinda thing. It's remarkably lightweight and agile, and the balance is delightful. The handling characteristics are somewhere between a Sirupati and M43. Like the M43, I place it in a class of its own; not a compromise between tool and weapon, but equally both. You'd have to hold it in your hand and use it... it feels predatory.

I appreciate the description but would still love to see the SxS picture of the two...

Thanks for the info though, it helps a lot.

OK Warty, here ye be:

Really didn't turn out very visible in the photo, but the Super CAK has double fullers, where the standard AK/CAK has only the deep fullers near the back of the blade. Also note the Super CAK has a longer belly.

Although they are the same size, the huge difference is in the handling. The AK handles like an axe. The Super CAK handles like a short sword.

If it's possible to find the most perfectly balanced chopper, I'm pretty sure HI is bound to produce it. As their blades seem to be meticulously hand ground, balance and ergonomics are surely fine tuned by the maker himself. The only Khukri I have is a factory manufactured Condor, but it sure is a nice performer/user. Very similar handling characteristics to a simple tomahawk, with the usefulness of a full, long slicing blade. One day I'll nab one of these 'deal of the days' on a smaller villager.

Thanks a lot Wolf, actually I know really do understand and as usual, it was the picture that did it.

I really didn't like the CAK at all so perhaps it is time to seek a 20" Super Cak...
