DesRosiers Shop Lost to Fire

wow kevin. very cool of you. i admire all you guys more than i did yesterday. i have two dogs, they are like my family. i cannot imagine the anguish they are feeling :(

I'm sorry, especially for the loss of your dogs. Everything else can be rebuilt.

Thank you isn't enough for all of the encouragement and support we've gotten over the last 24 hours. We were devastated yesterday seeing the skeletons of our machines standing in the rubble, piles of crumbling ivory and tools and emotionally the absolute worst was the wreckage around our dog beds. I wouldn't normally be so open about this but you all have opened your hearts and become a part of it. It's incredibly humbling and will change us forever. We don't deserve and can never pay back the debt, only determine to pay it forward to others in need when we get back on our feet. Our new shop will be owned by all of you, some of you friends we haven't even met yet. There's going to be a long list of names written on wall. We were discouraged and questioning where to go from here, if we had it in us to do it all over again, thinking there might be something else for us. I had just told my Mom that I couldn't give up knife making, I was just finishing the last custom orders and about to make all of the wild ideas I had in mind for BLADE and the Paris FICX. In fact there were four finished knives that I had taken back to the shop for photos. You just can't think about what was lost and instead be thankful for what we still have. We weren't going to give up on the dream but looking at starting from the bottom again, this time with zero building tools was a facer. Then Adam posted on FB and this crazy, overwhelming support and encouragement started flooding in. Apparently we aren't allowed to give up even if we wanted to. We know exactly how much work goes into these blades/sheaths that are being donated, the time it takes to collect handle material and tools, how the end of the year can be tough between holidays and taxes, all we can say is thank you. We don't take a speck of it for granted.

Haley and Adam, that pile of rubble in the photo will be your clean slate in a few days. You can write whatever you want on it. You speak of debt…..there is no debt, you received from us what you gave to us…Love and Respect. 2+2=4 We are all even.

The very worst part is losing your pup friends. They are family and I understand having sent a couple to heaven this year myself.

Always remember we are here behind you and will always offer a helping hand, just as you would if things were reversed.

May God bless you and Adam and speed your recovery to even bigger and better things.

Paul

I can even begin to fathom such a loss especially for your furry love ones. :(

Ive been away from thr forums for awhile trying to get things done. I thought that I'd have a look to see what Ive missed on the forums while i have my breakfast. What a sickening thing to see. We hear about things every day that happen to other people, never thinking that it could happen to us, or those close to us. Like others have said, things can be replaced, but the loss your dogs is especially saddening. Adam and Haley, you've got a lot of work ahead of you, but many friends that will be help you to rebuild from the ashes. Dont hesitate to let me know what i can do to help.

Kevin/BenT: I may be the only person on BF that is so Facebook/PayPal challenged, but could you please give me a good USPS mailing address for Haley and Adam so I can make a direct contribution the old fashioned way? My email is (.....) if you'd rather not post it here.

Thank you, Bob L.

GOT IT. THANKS AGAIN.

And, yes, I will have to figure out at least PayPal sometime, but want to act sooner rather than later right now.

Very generous!

What's the best way to send donations? I'm not on Facebook and I know sometimes PayPal freezes donations. Someone please let me know, thx.

Sorry for the losses.

I just heard about this from Burt Foster, who also has a plan to assist the DesRosiers...

Adam and Haley, I, too, am truly sorry for your loss, and truly so for the loss of your friends... Even though we've only spoken briefly at the two Seattle shows, I've watched your work and your ethics for a few years now. I know the both of you will only grow stronger for what you are facing. Where ever your plans take you, I wish you both the best for this New Year coming... If y'all are ever in Seattle, please don't hesitate to contact me - it would be my honor even if it's just for a cup of coffee...

Sorry for your loss of your furry kids!:o I'm sicken just reading about it as my little doggie lays at my feet.

Please PM me a way to send you some cash to get you started on the new place/tools/materials and I'm sure your local shelter has a couple of doggies that need a warm loving home!;)

Much Respect!

My heart goes out to you for all of the losses. Our shops are our havens, and our dogs are the best people we know. I lost my best friend Molly to a heart attack last spring, and I know our dogs are family.

Sorry for your loss. You guys will be in my thoughts.
