I am looking into making a friction folder and was wondering if a Detent could be used to help keep the blade closed and or open. If you were doing it how would you? If done, could a flipper be used? Thanks Jack

You don't need a detent. Pressure from your finger or thumb holds the blade open and friction from the screws tightened into the pivot holds it closed. Also the detent needs to be set in a spring (i.e., the lock bar of a linerlock) so it can move in and out in order for the blade to open and close smoothly.

Depends on the laws in his area, Friction Folders with no detent run into the centrifugal force gravity knife rules
