I've got a parkerized and the military regulator and I believe the only reason they have minor thickness differences (.020) is because of the coating adding the extra thickness on the military reg. The underlying steel is made from the same stock thickness of 5/16". Parked is definitely lighter like you say!
But yeah, the parked one is quite different with that deep hollow grind which is why I love it so much, because it's so thin at the tip and edge. Waaay thinner than the mil reg so it'll cut and penetrate way better. No doubt the mil reg is more robust though being so thick behind the edge. But unless you're breaching concrete walls, I'd imagine either is up to all kinds of insane abuse.
Are you saying this urban reg tip is thinner than a parked reg? I find that hard to imagine unless you're saying it's a factor of how it's obviously sharpened as then you can make it as thin as you want.
Either way, this thing looks great! I'd love get an all gray one like that. Looks awesome!

That looks nice... I wonder if you could sharpen the last inch or so of the topside ...I have a Park too...It's wild how thick of a knife it is for it's size...but like you said, the tip/edge is so pointy & thin. It reminds me of a Rhinoceros haha.
I took the top of mine to my belt sander with a really high grit & then polished it with a leather belt to a shine. It rounded the the chamfer out a bit.

The original public defender is my CC weapon. It and my HG-55 I would not want to be on the receiving end of.
The PD is by far the easiest to conceal!!
If I was in a knife fight the Bowie grind DS8 would be my go to.That blades tip will cut on a reverse.
