I've read here many times folks looking for the Devcon 2 ton epoxy . I just thought I would let everyone know that www.drillspot.com has the best deal I have found . Now this is item # 14310 which is not the same crap you buy in the hardware stores . This is the original industrial grade stuff and they do not charge a hazard material shipping charge .

You need to look again. That is the same I buy, but I buy the 9oz package from ACE hardware.

The only ones I've found in the stores carried a different item# . Also the hazard warnings were different . So I am under the thought here that there is a different chemical make-up for shipping purposes . For Item # 14310 from must places there is a shipping hazard fee , for the other stuff there is not . The fire hazard warnings are different . I have used both and have had better results with the 14310 . It could just be my imagination though .

Look at the companys website. There is only one type of 2-ton 30min epoxy.

I have looked at there web site many times and you are correct JBS . I am only saying though that I have found some in our local hardware store ( well , we do live in the sticks :) ) that was different . That was what started my research on the product , reading the msds sheets . This was over a year ago though and maybe that stuff has been pulled , I don't know . I'm just trying to inform folks incase there is still some out there . I had problems with the handles on 2 knives when I used the stuff I found in our small store . I've used the 14310 for 15 yrs. and never had a problem . ;)

I have used it twice that long with no problems. After reading the negative reports on testing it, I was about to change. However, we had a flood in August 2008. My son lost a knife that I made for him about 13/14 years ago. He found it after the flood receeded. It had been under water for at least 6 weeks. The bone scales are as tight to the steel as before it was lost. That has gotten me to re-thinking the idea of changing. I would think that was a pretty good test of it's general abilities. There may be better epoxies, but I think Devcon is plenty good enough.

please folks , I am not arguing here . I use devcon 2 ton clear and I like it . What I'm trying to say is there are 2 different grades out there of the 2 ton clear in syringes . I found it today , here is a pic of what I feel is the no good stuff . 30 min. clear 2 ton . It shows on the packaging that there is no fire hazard warning , where as with the industrial grade there is a fire hazard warning class I . Just a heads up is all I'm trying to say here .

Have you ever considered that maybe there was never really a fire hazard, and Devcon convinced the powers that be of this fact, and got the warning lifted for new packaging? As far as your failures, maybe it was something you did, or did not do? There are a number of things that can screw up the bonding powers, or the chemical reaction of any epoxy.
